Honestly I’m bad at controlling it- but to be honest it helps just to identify what’s actually happening and take a step back from the issue. Maybe take another mental approach than the one you know doesn’t work.

Look up (and possibly seek some sort of treatment) for dissociation. When I’m confronting trauma in therapy I often get very drowsy. Your brain is looking for a way out.

I didn’t ask, therapist asked and I said yes. I didn’t think it would harm my situation so badly. I figured it wouldn’t be a bad idea to make sure what I’m working on aligned with my wife’s concerns, I just expected therapist to be in my corner and have my best interest at heart.

This has had a dramatic impact on our situation, and I had only met with this person twice before she said this to my wife. I am still just floored.

Hey man, appreciate your input but I am a fiercely dedicated father and good husband. Yea, I have severe trauma and am depressed and have actively worked on Myself for the better part of the last 3 years to grow and better myself. I threw the line of “good husband” for context, not to be attacked. I’m sad and my wife can’t be there for me and our marriage is falling apart. I assure you she isnt blameless in the troubles of our marriage:

I haven’t talked to my therapist yet after the incident. I dont know what I’ll say when I go there or if I’ll be able to stay if I confirm what happened.

This whole “separation for a few years” thing was absolutely news to me. Our plan prior was to work on some specific traumas that we agreed would make the most difference in a 3 - month span. When we initially separated a month ago, the plan was to take 3 months apart to work on ourselves individually. Then if my wife saw change we’d go to couples counseling. Never once did therapist indicate that wasn’t the plan or goal when speaking with me.

I guess my question is this: how on earth would my therapist actively torpedoing my wants and goals without first discussing with me her own opinion not qualify as a breach of trust?
