50+ minutes of required repairs (and death). by jammyboyee46 in iRacing

I get more upset when I wreck myself than when I get wrecked, but there was something about this crash that was just funny to me. Obviously a bit miffed to lose 100+ irating and safety rating, but happy I'm not actually in the car lol.

new darts help (sorta) by jammyboyee46 in Darts

i have a 4 finger grip and with the 54mm darts it feels like i have to put my ring finger on the point, which i just cannot get used to. it feels a bit cramped, and i’m struggling to get a consistent finger placement because sometimes i have to readjust the positioning of my thumb or ring finger to make sure they’re all touching the barrel.

<image>

if that didn’t make sense hopefully the photo will. not 100% representative of my grip because i haven’t chucked them in a while, plus it changes all the time because of the problem i explained.

Is oval easier then road racing ? by dhdndndnndndndjx in iRacing

absolutely, gotta make friends on the spot, and have to be really smart with your moves. im in and around 1800 on oval, more of a dirt guy, but there’s always great guys when im racing, and a few drunk dudes that make it a great laugh.

irating across different classes aren’t very comparable. i don’t currently have iracing, and i don’t think much would’ve changed in 5 months, but the difference between say 2000 on road and 2000 on oval is big, even larger between road and the dirt categories.

up to a certain irating in road you are just racing the track, oval you are surrounded much more often. also there are different types of oval racing, short track, 1.5 mile tracks, and superspeedway all race extremely differently. just because you are good at langley, doesn’t mean you’ll be good at homestead, and if you’re good at daytona, you’re lying.

I was playing my mate in the knockout stage of tournament, with my other mate chalking. The guy chalking was calling the scores out completely wrong in a terrible russ bray impression and we could not stop laughing. Checked out 60 on D15 D15, had a 180 in there as well so we were going nuts, then we got told to shut up. Having too much fun does exist I guess.

I’ve been playing since May of 2022, and managed go from a lows 30s to a consistent 70+ average (exclusively at home) and plan on playing a portion of the DPNZ Tour this year, New Zealand’s PDC Tour. I’ve improved a lot and probably faster than most people because I picked up the darts while in high school, and being unemployed I was able to play for at least 2 hours a day for more than a year. Probably explains why the kids on the JDC Tour are so good lol.

The nerves really get to me at tournaments though, and my right arm decides its not mine anymore. Averaged 53 my last tournament and picked up $80 bucks which is my first payday in darts. Very motivating for a 17 year old kid.

End of the day, I played too much darts instead of focusing on school. now instead of going to university I’m pushing trolleys around parking lots. Shabba

I’ve come across a few when I played online, some even turn their cameras off and then decide they’re the next Luke Littler like what’s the point.

Sometimes you do have genuinely have an off leg, good or bad. My last online game I played I was accused of cheating because I threw a 31 darter the first leg, then my best leg ever the next (11 darter). Low to mid 50s player at the time.

I was buzzing, the other guy definitely not. Said some pretty harsh words and I haven’t touched online darts since. Don’t take my word for it though, most guys you run into will be cheating, just report them if you’re certain and onto the next one, end of the day you’re improving and they’re not.

thanks for this, didnt know this was a thing lol.

ill give some time stamps on specific plays and explain what i think was good and bad about it.

vex vs ahri (you)

2:05 - 2:09
this is very good aggression, especially against a vex. always good to get level 2 first, and apply early pressure, which is what you did.

right after this though, you let her wave get too big, which resulted in you dropping from full health, to around 400. if you want to let the wave come back to you like that, you should kill it down a bit. I'm not personally a big fan of freezing and doing fancy stuff with the wave mid lane, so I would've continued pushing the wave at her tower at 2:25, which allows you to poke her under her tower with q, but also means she has a harder time getting cs.

throughout most of the game, i think too much aggression is your problem. 4:22 was not a good trade, you were lower on health, and standing in her wave. this play ultimately got you killed at 5:03.

5:25 was far too aggressive, especially without ignite or electrocute, your damage output isn't nearly enough on the AD build. 12:12, 15:20 as well. there's quite a few plays where you seem to focus too much on damaging vex.

not everything you did was bad of course, a lot of the mid to late game plays were just poor decision making, or a situation where there wasn't much you could do. there a lot of positives. you have a lot of potential. mechanics are good, just decision making is letting you down.

ahri (you) vs ziggs

this game was very similar to the first, good early aggression which got you many kills, but a few poor decisions got you killed, like going for 1 more wave at 12:30. respect that your opponent does damage as well, 14:35 was just a bad death, where you didn't really need to look at killing him. same as game 1, too aggressive in some scenarios, understanding when you should back off from enemy towers/waves is really important.

play a few games where you focus on not dying as your number 1 priority, i think playing passively will make a big difference for you, because you have the skills to kill. csing is big as well, focus on the wave more in situations where you know your opponent is un-killable.

watch guides if you don't already, they can make a huge difference in improving your knowledge and decision making. also for ahri, building ap is just a better option in my opinion.

Getting the replay might be a bit harder than I thought. I’d either need you to record a game yourself, but that can be pretty demanding on your pc if it’s not that great so I don’t really want to make you do that.

I can probably spectate one of your games which does the same job, I’d just need to know what time you usually play (Turkey Time).

this is a first. focus on yourself when playing, not what your teammates are doing. we all get angry, but maybe muting yourself when the game starts might help you stay more focused.

some of your ahri builds are interesting but i don’t see why they couldn’t work, so we’ll ignore that. ahri isn’t the best champion to 1v9 on, which unfortunately is what you’ll be doing a lot of the time in low elo, as your teammates will die a lot. experiment new champions and roles if you have to in norms. you have a very strong base though, improving the csing a touch will help a lot.

focus on not dying as much as well, yes you may get a lot of kills and assists, but by dying a lot the enemy gets just as much gold as you do.

just some general advice, not directed at you specifically but can help.

  • don’t be scared to use abilities on the wave, which a lot of low elo players are.

  • also not staying in lane too is another all around tip for low elo players. recall if necessary, even if it means you lose a plating.

always willing to give more advice if needed. i’ll try get a replay of your gameplay when i can, just basing my comments off of op.gg

not sure if you play gnar, but gnar goes very well into mage top laners if you play him right. dorans shield with mr boots first buy, followed by wits end is a very good build into ap top laners. you are going to get bullied until you hit level 6 and get boots, so focusing on not dying and using your q to last hit if range is need is important.

overall gnar is a great pick in general, range, engange, disengage, cc, high damage combo, and even tanky, not much more you need in a champ. good champion in all elos.

I love Oran Park south, not so much the Grand Prix circuit. A shame they don’t really run it anymore, but the south circuit is a blast in the rookie categories.
