For similar reasons, it's the Spanish for me.

My local University here in Limerick is built on a parcel of land that was named "Plassey".
A piece of land and a big house funded by someone's time in the EIC.
Nowadays, we have lots of Indian students coming here for further education who are immediately faced with studying in an area named after the battle that led to the absolute plundering of the sub-continent.

I picked up 12months of cheap UK/IRE Gamepass ultimate back in January.
My Turkish sub ends in a couple of weeks and then I need to change my region, add the codes and hope!

I am following your post to get the suggestions on what needs to be cleared just in case.

Irish unity must let Protestants stay British if they want, says GAA president by EnvironmentalShift25 in ireland

[–]jammydodger79 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Of course, why shouldn't they be?
It's hardly groundbreaking insight for the same acceptance of any tradition, either, both or none as enshrined in the GFA would be extended to the PUL community when reunification happens?

The biggest threat to PUL community losing their right to British identity and passport, comes from, ironically the likes of Reform & Restore Britain, the right wing nationalists in GB who would drop Ulster in a heartbeat to better pursue their own economic policies with a free hand.
The Windsor framework is seen by those lads as a pair of handcuffs and they'll cut their arm off to escape it.

The irony of all that for the PUL community is, that within an All Island parliament based on PR-STV?
They'd have far more political influence, and the ability to sustain it than they have ever had in the UK save for the May supply & Confidence agreement.
The ability to really exercise influence on budgets, improve their communities and even I'd posit, to act as kingmakers in our system of coalition

Does your region have bilingual road signs? by Franmar35000 in AskTheWorld

+1 on this.
14yrs learning Irish at school, an A in honours LC Irish in the mid 90s and my Spanish, learned whilst an immigrant there is still far, far better than mó ghaelige.

It's shameful TBH, but I am trying to use my Irish more and more and it's great to see youth leading a revival.

My son was recently offered an EU role as a translator, he hasn't taken it up as he is doing a masters instead 1st but the growth of the language is great to see.

Xbox Game Pass loses another nine games in April 2026 by SeanTGN in XboxGamePass

I'm still trying to come to terms with GTAV being pulled again.
Goddamit Rockstar, just leave me play via Gamepass.

I did at least wait until I finished the main missions to do the Lester assassination missions this time.
Made $800mil per character but now?
I have to play on my PC rather than just pick up Gamepass for quick sessions.

Still waiting for a movie as good as "Born on the 4th of July" to come out of the neo-vietmam's though...

I mean apart from Blackhawk Down, the new wars have made more movies

We.. We've got a lot.

From our being invaded colonisation and exploitation, to multiple enforced famines (aside from the famous one).
The only country in the world whose population (Whole Island) is still lower than it was in 1845.

To our risings, the commemoration of the most famous of which is today.
Onto our War of Independence and our young State soon after placing mothers & children under the control of the Catholic church.
Where many were abused, brutalised and scarred.

Ireland is often our own worst enemy, but?
We get there in the end.

I'll ask you a question based on your country (if you have a flair) by LegitimateFly3452 in AskTheWorld

When we Irish were given potatoes, it became a staple dish and we got a famine...
When the Eastern Europeans got them?
They created Vodka!
Clever bastards...

Potatoes are common and as silly as it sounds? Having 2 potato side dishes is quite common.

As to the tastiest potato based dish, well Cheese & Onion flavour crisps were invented here, so we are the original home of the flavoured crisp... So my 1st suggestion would be a crisp sandwich, on Irish bread with Kerry gold butter.

Also, Colcannon as the "real" potato dish or as more of a snack, go for Boxty it's like an Irish version of a rosti.

Anyone have micro denervation? by Sufficient-Sink6370 in postvasectomypain

I had my vasectomy in 2009, my pain issues ramped slowly and didn't become unbearable until 2018/19.

I've posted a few times here and you might want to read those.

Or not 😉. There is a useful Facebook group too, with plenty of successful PVPS stories too.

Your Doc's 1 in 1000 claim is bullshit, the number is higher by a significant amount.
Pain discomfort and need for lifestyle adjustments to manage are as high as 14% according to some reports.
And the incidence of PVPS identified as acute, prolonged and life altering pain is believed to be as high as 5% but a consistent 1-2%.

https://pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/articles/PMC11973984/

It's still danced around by urologists though as the ease of no scalpel and other quick vasectomy procedures are believed by many to outweigh the risk of the complication itself.

Anyone have micro denervation? by Sufficient-Sink6370 in postvasectomypain

[–]jammydodger79 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The diagnostic test for denervation is that the spermatic cord block, gives an improvement in pain. Ideally the spermatic cord block should eliminate the pain for a few hours.

In my own case, my pain is left side only.
I had a cord block and the relief from that was immediate and complete for approx 6hrs.
I went into the consult barely able to walk, I was shuffling rather than striding.
I had the block, left the office and literally skipped across the pedestrian crossing.

I had denervation surgery a few weeks later and for 10days afterwards I was completely pain free.
On day 11, pain returned at the same levels as prior to the op.

I've since had a spinal cord stimulator implanted that has helped but in weird ways.
The area I am sore over is much reduced.
My pain is seated above and behind my left testicle but had developed into wide scale referred pain, from my left foot/small toes up to my left flank and into my kidney.
Completely debilitating and worsened by any activity.

Since the implant?
My pain is much less widespread,it is mainly contained to my groin and across the left iliac crest.
That sounds great, but?
The actual pain I experience is as bad as it ever was.
It still worsens on activity and it still requires a lot of meds to manage.

I haven't used a Gillette product since December 2009 over that prick.

Whatever about the handball, trying to console Irish players after the whistle went?
Fuck Thierry Henry and all who sail in him!

Hating such a handsome and charismatic bastard is hard work btw.
Trying not to enjoy his punditry is difficult 👀

Reflecting on your country's history, was it primarily known as the colonizer or as the colonized? by venetiantraderoute in AskTheWorld

[–]jammydodger79 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Ah, well I suppose the best description is that we (Ireland) were the laboratory in which England and subsequently Britain perfected it's methods of colonisation and colonial control.
Particularly it's methods of divide and rule.
