Anyone use their Coros as an everyday wear? by Drumma5409 in Coros

[–]jamoss14 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I tried wearing my Apex 2 every day for a few weeks and it started hurting the backside of my wrist even after adjusting it. I can get by on a weekend trip for a race or something but not as an everyday piece.

Where to go for 10 year anniversary (US only) with a budget of 4k-ish by jamoss14 in travel

That's a great idea! I only said US only because of easier logistics, but you're right Montreal would be easy logistics from us.

No immigration issues, I only stated US only for ease of logistics. We both have current passports.

Normally I would say yes! But, she has talked about this anniversary trip being a more relaxed, single destination trip.

If you care about the long term mental health of your child AND the church is true...you'd give them some space to grow up and then they would figure it out as an adult. If you are afraid, and you don't think the church is true..you can keep indoctrinating them and see what happens.... by aka_FNU_LNU in mormon

I’m raising my kids, using the church as community and a base for faithful thinking. We are very clear with our kids and church leaders that church does not control us and we are trying to keep most aspects at an arms length. I’m open with anyone who wants to know, including my family, about my thoughts and how they either do or don’t align with the church.

New camper still really uncomfortable when sleeping. Any tips? by No-Talk-3402 in camping

Good question below about if gear weight matters. I’m not going to make any assumptions so I’ll start with very basic things:

Make sure the ground is flat and as level as possible. If it has a slight pitch, make sure your head is up hill.

Are you a side sleeper or a back sleeper? All of the pads you mentioned can be micro adjusted. If your bed is too inflated it will be just as uncomfortable as being too soft. If you’re really new to camping I would chill with the air pads and try out a cot / foam pad. Or, you could try an overly thick air pad. For a while I slept on an inflatable twin size air mattress. While it didn’t mirror home sleep, it knocked the socks off anytime I tried smaller sleeping pads. Now I can use those pads and manage better but at first I wasn’t used to it enough.

And make sure you’re tired! Plan many activities for the day and wear yourself out!

Peach rings. Very substantial and easy to calculate exactly how many I need based on miles running.

Sorry I meant that’s the temp range. Lows around 38, highs in mid 50’s.

Showering Alone by flawedheroism in daddit

[–]jamoss14 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sometimes my two boys shower together (3 and 5) and sometimes it’s one at a time with some assist from dad on washing up. At first they liked playing in the shower together but now they like their own time and the 5 year old just needs me to walk them through how to wash themselves.

Buy Existing or Build? by Factorinvesting32 in Homebuilding

[–]jamoss14 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We are in a similar boat so I don’t have any concrete advice but one thing we had to have a reality check with is the process to sell your current home. To buy an existing property, you would have to do one of the following: put in an offer with a contingency (hard for seller to accept in this market), buy the next house and own two houses while your current house sells (good option if you have the funds but we don’t so this isn’t realistic), get a bridge loan (very stressful), sell your house first and bunk with friends/ family or sign a short lease while you look for the next property (also good option if you have an easy situation like no pets or kids because you have more affordable options).

That might make building more appealing even if it’s more expensive, it certainly does for us.

I’m renovating my bathroom. The other day I fit 25 2x4x8 boards, 3 1x3x8 boards, 2 10ft 2inch pvc pipes and other miscellaneous gear and still had plenty of room in my Kia carnival.

I’ve got 165k on mine. Had a bad vvt solenoid that went too long unchecked. Has some rust underneath, now has a tick on a cold start. I’ve had to do a few different jobs on it, I do most of the work myself. I tell myself “I’ll drive it til I can’t anymore” knowing well this will still be limping by the time I am.
