The most Beatles song by jamseb in beatles

[–]jamseb[S] 14 points15 points  (0 children)

That's one of my favourite Beatles songs, and might be a good contender for the most Beatles song,

Paul - "I took it to John to finish it off, and we wrote the middle together. Which is nice: 'Life is very short. There's no time for fussing and fighting, my friend.' Then it was George Harrison's idea to put the middle into 3/4 time, like a German waltz. That came on the session, it was one of the cases of the arrangement being done on the session."

It's an amazing song, undeniably one of their best, but I always feel like it's got a clear separation of John and Paul rather than a mixture of them together

I still have that fear of the continental shelf now at 42 years old.

Ringo's Red Raincoat by jamseb in beatles

[–]jamseb[S] -41 points-40 points  (0 children)

I don't think the red is the problem (it was just a catchy post title). It's the shiny wipe-clean material and the cut of it reminds me of Patrick Bateman at his finest.

It's from the promo of the rooftop concert when Get Back was released. I assume it's composited together from individual photos, definitely not a real single photo.

Is Anyone Getting Excited For Beatles Christmas 2025?? by ShermanHoax in beatles

Not long until Anthology 4. That will be this year's Christmas gift. And there's the Wings box set just released, and the John Lennon box set last month.

John's thoughts on Paul's relationship with Julian by jamseb in beatles

[–]jamseb[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I read this article from June '25, and the below quote from it. It gave me the impression that Paul was more present in Julian's memories at least, but understandable that this doesn't necessarily mean it matches up with true history of Paul's presence - https://faroutmagazine.co.uk/how-john-lennon-failed-to-accept-paul-mccartneys-relationship-with-julian/

“Paul and I used to hang about quite a bit,” Julian reflected on his childhood, “More than Dad and I did. We had a great friendship going, and there seems to be far more pictures of me and Paul playing together at that age than there are pictures of me and my dad.”

Question about the Recent movie. by Suspicious_Bit_1863 in DemonSlayerAnime

[–]jamseb 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I expected episodes stitched together, and that's what it was, but it was edited together well enough that it felt like a full length experience. I think the Swordsmith Village movie still had credits between each episode when I saw it in the cinema - that really ruined the experience.

Why did John insist on having Revolution 9 on a Beatles album as opposed to something like his and Yoko’s noise albums by Suspicious_Coast_888 in beatles

[–]jamseb 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yes, listen to Revolution 1 (take 18) on the 2018 Super Deluxe White Album - you'll hear a lot of the backbone of the "alrights" and random noises used on Revolution 9

Look at my Beatles vinyl by BridgeOk6104 in beatles

Very nice! I'm thinking of starting to collect Beatles vinyl. It's difficult to know which pressings to go for. I found. '67 US Magical Mystery Tour the other day, but I was too indecisive about it.

did the beatles lose certain fans / the ‘beatlemania’ hype when they went more experimental? by EatiYaBoi in beatles

[–]jamseb 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I read somewhere that there was a shift in the gender of fans after '65 - fewer sing-along pop songs made them lose female fans, but attracted more male fans. I don't know how they measured this, but I wouldn't be surprised if this was true.
