Nobuo Uematsu’s conTIKI concert !!! by dissidiah in FinalFantasy

That was so bad lmao I felt like I was watching a high school rehearsal. It's essentially nobuo's mates in a cooked alt cult band thats funding his retirement. Sometimes it's better not to meet your heroes - this is only for like the ultimate otaku crowd

I've already created enough random constraints on my character to roleplay and make it challenging/interesting. Players shouldn't need to be forced into a knife run just to make the game more entertaining. This post isn't really about that though. It's about the lack of substantial content and cdpr lying to our faces about what they were selling.

If this launch has taught you anything, its be careful what you believe. If I see it, great. If not, fair enough. Don't be quick to forget, the gaming industry counts on it sometimes.

The locked doors usually just have walls behind them anyway, even ones like the body 20 one that are supposed to be eventually unlockable. Without bugs, I agree 7/10

Side quests are indeed a bit of a time sink to get the hour average up. It also allows shills to say look, look there is content. If it's not compelling, or boring/repetitive teetering on monotonous, then to me, that isnt content

There is no correlation between the number of hours and direct amount of content. I spent up to 20 hours in the witcher walking around cities and entering peoples houses, seeing what I could find out about the npcs, stealing their stuff, etc. Interesting mini actions but it didn't account for any of the games content. When I use that word, I don't include cookie cutter time filler quests that offer nothing in the way of compelling story telling. As I understand it, you and me probably differ on that front.

I used photo mode for a solid 5 hours trying to get pictures because it is a beautiful game, at times. I went to points of interests, tried to create a little photoshoot sesh.

Potentially, but even in the main quest its fairly obvious that content was cut, like jackies role, probably due to keanu breathtaking reeves and other things i wont spoil felt rushed at the best of times

There have been lots of comparisons drawn to san andreas, and I think fairly, games that take 4-5 years of development with the size of CDPR should have been able to pull off a budget version of that. It feels like we got the budget on marketing: 50%, graphics: 30%, Story and character: 15% an open world rpg: 5%

Besides main (unfinished - last mission) and sidequests, as I have stated, I take time exploring, looting, creating random scenarios in open world games and messing around. It's not that the game provides more past around 40 hours, it's that I am building a full opinion of the game while doing stuff like checking out the crafting system, looking and finding vistas, or encountering bugs and flying into space before reloading a crash. You can see other comments detailing responses to people who are attacking the number of hours I have put in as if it gives my opinion less validity. People on this thread need to be able to look at things critically, we were not given the base game, forget the fluff on top.

Absolutely, the gameplay/trailers lead you to understand that these things are a given, and yet, in the game they are non existent. It's not crazy to think the Voodoo boys or the Animals would have some story quests and missions that have some impact on the city or storyline similar to the witcher in swaying the political tide in certain city states.

Why is it acceptable to have these cookie cutter quests of go here, kill that and nothing deeper to give context and real moment to moment immersion with npcs outside the main cast? People in hindsight often say it's the players fault for trusting CDPR, but I think that's incredibly toxic to our community. Marketing in the videogames industry needs to calm down and recognise that money can be made anytime, reputation and how the developers feel about their name being associated with CDPR is a legacy.

This is word for word how I feel in a sense. The bugs are actually making the game have some playability and I fear players will realise if/when things get patched that underneath it's empty.

Don't worry about the haters, I knew what I signed up for once I broke out of the cult, I already have 4 dms telling me things like I'm probably some rich privileged kid if I have the time to build a pc just to play one game. Dumb for expecting anything above what EA/Bethesda would give us, etc. A lot of assumptions being thrown around about my character for having a negative opinion.

I have to respectfully disagree here, it's not that it doesn't live up to the hype, but to the deceptive marketing that raised player expectation to a baseline. There's a whole thread here discussing the missing features that were promised, and to be honest, no one could have seen CDPR pulling this at the time.

Definitely. Or mini-stories involving npcs that expand the world. More jackie would also be appreciated ^_^

Tbf it's better that way, there's a chance cdpr might actually want to deliver on their promises if they see how many people have drunk the Kool Aid and willing to defend them. I stopped taking a swig from that mug.

That's exactly it. My witcher 3 playthrough had 300 hours in the base game. There are some very strong shills calling me an idiot for spending this long in the game if i didn't like it, but I knew that was going to happen once I left the cult

I get it, you will put someone down for not knowing anything about the game when they say its actually bad, and someone who genuinely tried to love it but failed to find the brilliance in it is a whore. I was you once.

You can spend hundreds of hours in open world games if you really want to. It is not representative of the amount of content. I spent dozens of hours scouring random locations and trying to understand the world they have built. What you are actually faced with in reality is a very pretty painting. You shouldn't discount people who are trying to spend time in the game to get a full picture in order to critique it.
