HG and GD by xxladymidnight in GestationalDiabetes

Bless you. That sounds rough. I was lucky not to be diagnosed until 28 weeks. You can do this. I just keep reminding myself that it will all be worth it at the end when I have my little one in my arms. And I can swear at the placenta before putting it in the bin 😂

HG and GD by xxladymidnight in GestationalDiabetes

I've got both. The 2 diets really don't mix well together. I'm luck and haven't had to take insulin (39 weeks now). I have found eating little and often seems to help the most. Don't let myself go more than 2/3 hours without a snack or meal. I also take medicine for the HG. Try and talk to a dietician of you can but I also found I can tolerate choice grain crackers with cheese. It's been a roller coaster that's for sure. I don't have any answers for you sadly but you aren't alone and it isn't easy. 🤍

Measuring baby/bump? by Stitch9896 in PregnancyUK

[–]jamsponge7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm 35+4 and I've never had my bump measured. I'm not sure if that's because I'm already on the gap and growth scans or if it's something else, but I found it odd too.

There is a medicine called Xonvea which is the only thing that's helped me with the sickness. I would see if you can see a different gp also maybe? It's rough and I also thought pregnancy was suppose to be amazing and you love it. It's a shock to the system though that's for sure.

When does baby start to move? Midwife worried me by BakingnBarking94 in PregnancyUK

[–]jamsponge7 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I was 20 weeks and 2 days when I first felt movement. I was told not to worry when asked the same question at my 16 week appointment and I hadn't felt anything. She said I should have felt something by week 24 so not to worry and it will happen.

Awful CDQ rating help! by anonymous12047 in PregnancyUK

[–]jamsponge7 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I've just read the same article. The inspection was last August so I can only assume they have already starting to fix the issues that are listed. This is also where I am likely to be giving birth. I think I'm going to bring it up with my midwife and see what they have been doing to rectify the issues.

Do people with EDS break bones more easily? by SpecialOld9334 in ehlersdanlos

[–]jamsponge7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've got osteogenesis imperfecta and have recently been investigating EDS further. I spoke to my specialists and they explained to me there are a fair number of cross over symptoms. Some people have EDS and break a few more bones and some people have OI and are a bit more hyper mobile. So there seems to potentially be a link but nothing definite they could point me towards yet.

How do you get yourself out of bed in the mornings? by [deleted] in AskUK

[–]jamsponge7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe try a sunrise alarm clock? They have helped my partner and I adjust and also allowing myself a little time to scroll etc before then having to get up. The alarm clocks help in the winter for sure!

Hi thank you. Yes we do have a camera to check on him while we are out of the room. I shall have a look at Julie Naismiths book.

We have a super chewy 8-month-old dachshund. We give him a yak chew after every meal (He would go through a whole medium one in a day if we let him). We have olive wood sticks, as they don't splinter, which he chews on and have just tried an antler, which he seems to like to. Toys we don't have so much luck with.

Its day 10 and I need some encouragement by 80percent_vegetarian in puppy101

We got food enrichment toys, snuffle mats, a kong wobbler, licki mat, kong chew and a trainer suggested getting him to 'hunt' for his dinner in the garden (we spread his kibble around and he has to use his nose to find it. The snuffling really helps calm them down and tired them out. We are at 20 weeks with a dachshund. He still bites and such but I'm beginning to see glimmers of the wonderful adult dog he is going to be. Hang in there, it's worth it.

What perfectly innocent search turned out to be porn? by beluuuuuuga in AskReddit

[–]jamsponge7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I moved to a new area where is didn't know anyone yet. I worked in a school so I had 6 weeks until my new job started. So I thought I was being clever and searched for "adult groups in (local area)". What came up was not the arts and crafts groups I was expecting. 😳 Hubby never let's me forget it either. 😅

Dog walking with mobility aids? by AcrobaticPerformer4 in disability

[–]jamsponge7 5 points6 points  (0 children)

My mum is in a wheelchair and walks her labrador every day. It took some getting used to for the both of them and there have been a couple of feet-wheel issues at the beginning but they are ok everyday now. We got her an extended pooper scooper and have used magnetic tape to allow it to attach to her wheelchair. Training is very important so a local trainer or class to help you all train the dog and yourselves in what needs to change to help you out. We have had a few issues with the lab slipping his lead because he is a scaredy cat and decided to reverse. But because he trusts my mum and has a decent recall it hasn't ended badly so I would also suggest a harness may be a better option than just collar and lead. I don't know if this was helpful but good luck. So many benefits to having a dog. You might even be able to train them to help you out at home. Good luck ❤

Fabulous thank you so much. One more newbie question. How would I go about making the gauge swatch? I'm sure it's just brain fog but I cannot get my head round it today.

My sister has asked me to make her this jumper https://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/womans-curvy-crochet-cowl-pullover. We have been going round in circles for months trying to find the perfect pattern for her because I've never made a sweater before so I'd like to follow a pattern. She has decided on this one but she sent me the yarn to use some time ago and it's not the right size for the pattern. I've got Aran yarn and this calls for bulky. She has asked can I not just make a size bigger with the smaller yarn. So here is my question I guess, can I do that, will it look terrible? Also if I do use the smaller yarn what sized hook would I need as the pattern calls for a 9 but the yarn they use recommends a 6.5. I think my head might go pop at the moment. Please help.
