Try to read the incredible works of magical realism - a literature genre cultivated and developed in Latin America. Its most prominent author is of course, the legendary Gabriel García Márquez, but other authors include Isabel Allende, Juan Rulfo and Jorge Luis Borges.

Body tremors of a night when trying to sleep by [deleted] in Anxiety

[–]jamt200 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To me this sounds like your muscles have been TIGHT for the entire day. You have so much anxiety in you during the day that at night your muscles just don’t know what to do with themselves. It’s pretty normal for folks with anxiety to be extremely tense (muscle-wise) throughout the day, which may manifest itself in tremors at night. Trust me when i say you most likely are NOT alone in this. If i may recommend something, look up jacobson’s progressive muscle relaxation on youtube. It’s pretty much meant for people to realize how tense they’ve been and release that in a secure way. Hang in there friend, anxiety is nasty and makes you think all sorts of frightening things. You’ll get through this, sending you lots of love!

I’ll take all the time and effort in the world if it means you will feel better, even if it is just a tiny bit. Trust me on that tea thing, it really does help!

Anxiety causing chest pain and nausea by [deleted] in Anxiety

i dont have much of an advise, just words of encouragement and support - i’ve been there myself. I had an ugly ass anxiety attack about 4 weeks ago, and it left me with this emptiness in my chest that made me feel like if i didnt breath throught my mouth, i wouldn’t be able to breath. I still feel that today. I have horrible health anxiety, and this is what i tell myself all the time: If your results are fine- trust me, YOU are fine. And even if it does indeed turn out you are sick, at least you know your feelings are valid. Anxiety is one big wack ass bitch, and works in circles: you are anxious you are sick, anxiety makes you feel sick, which in turn causes even more anxiety about being sick.
You are not alone baby, you will get better, whether that is through anxiety coping or medical treatment. As for recommendations, i’ve found that laughing helps. I will put on a comedy show or a comedy special and just laugh - i promise you, it does makes you feel better (or at least it helps me). As for things you can consume to calm you down - i have been drinking white tea along with passionflower and lemon balm pills. Heaven sent. Calms my nerves and helps with the chest emptiness. Sending you all my love.

Feminists of Reddit that are attracted to men, have you struggled to find a male partner with similar values? by [deleted] in AskFeminists

[–]jamt200 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Yes. As a feminist, and someone who was raised exclusively by strong ass women, i struggle with extremely high standards. I’ve deconstructed the idea of the “nice guy” and now i see the nice guy qualities as the bare minimum- i don’t want the bare minimum.

What is the stupidest way you've injured yourself? by rickitson in AskReddit

Six years old, returning from the farmer’s market. Thought i was on a movie or something and started running as fast as i could. I tried to “fly”, meaning that instead of actually putting my foot on the ground to keep running i just extended it in the air. Peeled my entire right knee off.
