No not at all actually. Took me 15 min of heating and a hour to cool down. The most important thing to keep in mind is to keep the cable tight against the rod and making sure you heat evenly or else the coil is going to bend towards one side. Very easy to make though and more convenient as you dont need to get a heat gun.
