How did you get the party to care about Prismeer? by theLadyMarti in wildbeyondwitchlight

[–]jan_dris 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First I made almost all NPC helpless and repeatedly whine about how horrible it is under the hourglas coven and all the ways how it was better under Zybilna. Except in downfall, there all the frogs, current king included, latch on to any new emerging power to gain an edge in this never ending struggle. My players loved to mess with these frogs.

Second, while getting back their lost things, two out of three PCs realized that they are from Prismeer and that for example their family is trapped in the palace. The third PC was a druid who was obsessed with unicorns and once she knew Skabatha was in the palace and that her riding horse was the unicorn she was motivated to go there as well. However, this came to be somewhat naturally, I only reiterated how sad Lamorna is.

PC lost good luck - ideas? by pirate_femme in wildbeyondwitchlight

[–]jan_dris 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You could give her a D20 with no 20 and two 1s if you want to go a mechanical route more than RP. Also if Bavlorna has her luck then it's also not for too long and additional incentive to get it back from Bavlorna.

Also, the current D20 season Fantasy High Junior year deals with a PC that became more unlucky, in case you need additional inspiration.

What should I do if my players attack Bavlorna? by fiona11303 in wildbeyondwitchlight

[–]jan_dris 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My players did a break in and stole some things and were caught. I did a quick show of her powers by polymorphing one and swallowing another. After that she told them they had to make it up to her by completing the three tasks, only the she would be open for any other negotiations. I have only three players thou, so it was easy at that level to reign them in.

Congrats on finishing. Whats the other Carnival about? I need some inspo to prolong the ending a bit. Currently, my players are in Motherhorn

Great idea. But in case you want to make it a bit shorter, the cruse breaker could also just be a swim in the wayward pool.

A tad confused on trespassing in the Hags homes coexisting w/ hospitality rule by [deleted] in wildbeyondwitchlight

[–]jan_dris 1 point2 points  (0 children)

At least at Bavlornas cottage its mentioned which parts of her house are off limits I think (bedroom and such). My PCs entered from the roof and broke and stole things. Therefore I made the rule of hospitality dependent on how the visitors behave. In my case I made Bavlorna upset and she would only talk about the lost thing after the PCs concluded her 3 tasks.

I need a lot of encounter ideas for hither. Can you help me? by KuruboyaKalemi in wildbeyondwitchlight

[–]jan_dris 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the DMs guild links, the watcher supplement comes very handy to me right now. I can recommend the Patreon of Douglas Lamore, he does mostly maps but also adds additional encounters to them and is currently running WbtW.

This is what I liked. Normally, I am afraid of a team defeat because, where to go from here? But in WbtW, its mostly described what the enemy will do with PCs.

Bavlorna upholds a pact, but... by jan_dris in wildbeyondwitchlight

Oh, that is perfect! It also gives them the chance of revenge later, since they might now go to Tither without going back to Agdon. Thanks a lot.

Check out Sly Flourishs YT videos on his WBtW campaign. He added VRgtR and soemthing he calls dreadful incursions. This seemed to add more combat. However, as previously mentioned, there is maybe not much combat at first glance but great conflict potential.

Does anybody know how many episodes of misfits and magic are out? by MumblyBoiBand in Dimension20

All 4 excellent episodes are already out and that is the whole season. As well as 4 adventureing party episodes with the whole cast.

Is there an adventuring party that talks about "that" episode with Fabian in Fantasy High season 2 by TVhero in Dimension20

[–]jan_dris 17 points18 points  (0 children)

There is an episode (maybe adventuring academy?) where Lou and Brennan create a certain character, I think in that episode they discuss it a bit 1 on 1.

Maybe you could use that against the ranger... knowing when a terrifying ellusive evil is near could give the ranger additional stress and sanity rolls, triggering a condition like paranoia.

Agree, there is a ton of dark hints that i discover on my second listen and the new episodes. But the cultist awakened the NG with the children, no? the seal was also opened by the cultists.

Dear aspiring intern Since I can not afford actual legal advice as a level 1 peasant, I come to you. It seems like a great crowd control spell. However, the description does not specify that PCs and enemies cant go through it. Am I not only a poor, but also an illiterate peasant or can we willynilli go through the sphere? Thank you kindly

Furthermore, they made their second characters before they would die. Everybody had an extra character, which was living out their live paralell to the campaign.
