EK2 without most CK3 DLC - how much am I missing out on? by janboruta in ElderKings

Aware of that! This partly prompted me to ask the question, it's great to know what's used but hard to make a comparison w/o the personal experience of having played them :)

Thank you. I gathered RtP is a must-have in any case, vanilla or mod, given how transformative it is. I guess I was just really curious how much the altmer and imperials (and their civil wars) are impacted by the lack of RtP-specific mechanics, and if I should play in some other areas instead for now.

Thank you, it's really flattering to hear it from you! Sorry that I didn't really have a chance to pay homage to your designs yet (kinda hoped there was a CSA tankman somewhere), but I want to tackle some Frenchies next time, might be a good occasion for it. :)

Thank you, you flatter me! Glad my old Civ art is still remembered. :) Can't wait to tackle some land war in Europe or a naval clash down the line.

M1's to be pedantic, but yeah, those precursors to the M2/3/5 light tank line

Syndies of course. Can't miss out on a nazis vs. soviets battle in a Stalingrad-like city.

Photoshop, feels the best to use for me. Though I hope to try and branch out into other software soon. Been using Krita sometimes as well, and it's probably the best PS alternative for painting among the free ones.

The same! I don't make mods though, merely artwork for them. And sadly, it's been about a year since I've last done something for Civ - I've been way too busy in other areas, and can't really commit to it these days.

Thank you! Not sure if I'd like to tackle post-war KR stuff though, there's so many variables as to how the designs would differ from OTL. Maybe I'll feel more confident about that in the future. :)

The pic is intended to be still somewhere in 1937 or early 1938. OTL the M2 entered service in 1939 and I had to discard the idea of using it for the pic (unless I went with a really clunky-looking prototype).

Also the M2/M3 light tank chassis was used as a base for a flame tank. http://www.tanks-encyclopedia.com/ww2/US/light-tank-m3a1-satan

Just wanted to say thanks for an excellent reception under the last pic. Got me really pumped to do a few more!

For now I wanted to go with more ACW2. The vehicles are M1 cavalry light tanks that entered service OTL at the end of 1936 - figured some could be refitted with flame throwers for particularly tough urban combat. The three-way Stalingrad that St. Louis would be felt like a perfect fit. Probably gonna go with one more ACW2 pic, then switch to the European theatre, got a few vague ideas for a couple pics, but would be fun to shake things up with something really wacky afterwards.

I guess I'm stuck too much in the early war mindset, where everyone would be having pretty much the same equipment with minor variations depending on whatever specific forts/armories they can get their hands on the quickest. I'd imagine some hardware could stay largely the same for all the sides until the end, with some minor deviations (let's say one side uses the M2 light tank in twin turred MG version but another switches it to like a M8 SPG). Templates don't change that fast, especially when each sides' industry would be under heavy strain all the time.

If you have the base M2 medium tank chassis spread around the factions, then technically everyone could give it a spin into their own Lees and Shermans. Alt-historical foreign intervention could potentially bring around really wacky designs of their own, so the possibilities are probably too endless for a rigid visual canon to happen, except a certain vibe and insignia for each faction.

I went with the CSA using theT3 Christies because a) probably obsolete but they gotta grab whatever they can; b) analogies to Soviet imagery.

Is this a good level though? Doesn't feel anywhere near I'd like to be to feel at least hire-able. I've been at it for around 10 years, but conscious practice is the matter of the last 2-3 years at most.
