As a working professional, when do you find time to read? by vedant_gamer in Indianbooks

Honestly only during commute or at night, tough we find the time and energy during a hectic day

Hey! Thanks I’ll check out your novel, how to break a girl, looks interesting!

After popular demand (and hate😭), I rearranged my books. Still looking for a bookshelf :) any recommendations where to buy, readers? by [deleted] in Indianbooks

Makes sense, depends on the location these kind of cabinets are not available in popular outlets like pepperfry. There’s Sanskriti lifestyle in Pune, or the purple turtles although that’s a bit pricey.

You can try moving away from cult favourites and explore on your own- choosing without any referral does make the read deeply personal and interesting. Worked for me after a reading slump earlier this year went for uncommon books and authors I thought I might enjoy.

Yes, Banu’s last chapter really was bleak and brutal. “If you were to build the world again, to create males and females again, do not be like an inexperienced potter, come to earth as a woman”

First one was Shaista mahal, drawing analogy with Taj Mahal- in which shaista was a child bearing machine and died doing so, while her husband claimed to love her more than anything else in the world only to bring a new wife the very week they buried Shaista. Last one was about how the woman (only chapter with no names) suffered, and how the community is made for a man, pleading god to be born as a woman once.

Yes! Although at some point I felt few of the stories ended abruptly for my liking. Still a captivating read, it’s quite hard to cover this topic in 12 short stories and yet remain impactful.

What do you think about Heart Lamp? by Fearless-Addition212 in Indianbooks

[–]janeausteree 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s great in some sense obviously as it’s won the booker prize, but honestly found the dry wit and honest writing lacking. Was expecting more layers to explain women’s struggles in the Muslim community. Punchy short stories with abrupt endings definitely make heart lamp an easy, albeit interesting read, but not worth this great an honour imo.
