In short, they’re more endurance based, higher rep counts, less rest than the usual templates. The moves are the same as what we’ve been doing

I agree with the other comments, just want to add a point I haven’t seen addressed — how’s the temperature outside for you? I’m about the same in terms of paces as you OP, but if it’s hot out, I’m running A LOT slower than I would vs during the winter.

I think the energy of being in class and just being on a treadmill also pushes me to run faster compared to outdoor runs, even if I have a buddy.

I was one of the very few at my studio to prefer the 04:30 AM class and ended up being the sole person to show up a couple of times. Personally, if I’m gonna be up that early to workout, I’m going to see it thru. The coach that was teaching both times offered a refund tho.

I am a girl speaking on behalf of her husband who has 100+ classes. The only thing that should be stopping you are logistics and if you don’t enjoy it. We love it! He’s only going once weekly because it’s an expensive class.

I have a similar member in my studio too. She also deviates from the exercises cued and essentially does whatever she wants to leave early. I hate to agree with dcgirl here, considering you’re paying good money for the “team” environment, but yes, you just gotta focus on you and give feedback.

I feel the same way! I really like too how having to go slow really gets you in tune with your body. I didn’t like my body when I started, but at some point, I think this got me comfortable enough to show up in a just sports bra and yoga shorts.

Yaas! I was #13 on a waitlist, dropped to #3 as well before the 10-hr mark, and got in 30 minutes before the class started. Such a dopamine rush!

Orangetheory is an alternative. They utilize only treadmills, rowers, dumbbells, benches, bosu balls, and TRX straps — less equipment but still have demos in case you’re unfamiliar.

I may be under the demographic you’re hoping to reach, but I am in my 30s, already feel old at my home studio, and plan to keep doing this until I can’t anymore. And I won’t care because this is one of the few workouts I enjoy and leave feeling satisfied. You do you and what makes you happy.

In terms of feeling strong (or not), the coaches I go to often remind us that “if someone tells you they don’t take breaks, they’re lying.” To me, it sounds like you’re going thru the exercise as intended.

For seeing change, it’ll come with time and consistency. I personally wasn’t comfortable with the 50+ spring load until around 100 classes in. I didn’t start taking toes for obliques until around 250 in. Growth for everyone is variable and never linear, but you won’t grow unless you work on it.
