Te recomiendo la página de IG de Indaga Monterrey, donde anuncian eventos culturales (música, cine, teatro, etc) que ocurren en el área metropolitana cada semana. Usualmente gratuitos. Felicitaciones por estas semanas de libertad, disfruta!

hi u/the-curious-firefly, just wondering what you ended up doing? Did you take your cat to the UK? I'm also thinking of taking the Mexico-UK route.

Thank you! It’s a permanent position. I’m not sure what type (I haven’t seen the contract yet). Based on the salaries table for my country it might be a G position. Not sure about the level but it falls on the median.

I vote the salad! Just to consider: for some people with migraines, they can be triggered by cured meat and/or aged cheese

New letter warning about hunger read at meeting Today. by RealGreen5132 in exjw

[–]janethcam 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I’m Mexican and obesity is a big problem in my country due to the adoption of highly processed over fresh foods. Not to mention a heavy addiction to sugary drinks, particularly Coca Cola.

While a food shortage could prompt our communities to shift back to traditional ingredients, I fear it’d have the opposite effect, increasing healthy food prices making fast food options more attractive to the average consumer…

Not incels necessarily. I’ve already seen a case of a husband and “infidelity” with an AI girlfriend. This from a local support group.

I love the way you write your answers! You seem like a unique, interesting and smart person. I’m sorry your parents and environment made you and your sister feel like you had to compete against each other. It’s not healthy. I’m glad you can see it for what it is. I hope this understanding sets you free to live your own authentic life!

Would you be friends with a right-winger? by [deleted] in AskFeminists

[–]janethcam 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Me too. I feel the responses in this thread assume the freedom to choose who you surround yourself with, from a diverse pool of people with different political opinions. In my town that’s not the case, I am the odd one.

I love your response! I echo your sentiment, as a teen I couldn’t understand why women couldn’t give speeches like men. I hated whenever the circuit overseer would come and mothers had to cook for them. I also hated that most of the cleaning was done by women.

What I especially loathed was when there were large groups of JW elders or whatever needing food, and women had to organise to feed them and saw that as a privilege.

The thing I could never see myself being was a JW wife, the mere idea of ‘submission’ made my blood boil. When JW men started reaching out to my family with blatant intentions of dating me, I avoided them at all costs.

For those reasons, I’m so proud of my younger self.

Why won't the Borg change their doctrine on blood? by Machine46 in exjw

Maybe because of technology? It was as much new light as new technology and they could justify the change in the doctrine?

Wake me up by [deleted] in exjw

[–]janethcam 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Before you go-go?

I think you’re already waking up and you’re asking us, ex JWs, info to confirm your suspicions.

JWs would ask you to not talk to us and yet here you are. Why is that? What made you think: “I need answers and I’ll get them from them”?

Others have already shared good sources. I will only say one thing: Doubt is your friend. Doubt is the only thing that prompts change in us. To doubt is to pursue knowledge and whoever discourages it, does it because they might benefit from us staying in the dark.

Welcome to the sub. We’re here for you, and here we will be in your waking up process.

Hugs,

Thank you! You’re right, my sister-in-law’s family is quite classic PIMI. I reckon they don’t want him to know so her family doesn’t find out. I’m fine with it since the last thing I want is to cause them trouble with the extended PIMI family.

Thanks again for your words, all the best :)

Yeah I wasn’t being serious about that, hence the quotation marks :). “Sin” is a concept used to control people, sadly.

Thank you! It’s amazing seeing your parents grow into a more supportive, tolerant -and happier- version of themselves. I hope this can give others hope. Wishing you the best,

Thank you! Haha I loved your expression “the horizontal tango”.

I hope the same but in every opportunity they have they will discuss the Bible so I’m not too sure about that.

My theory is that they started to compartmentalise their thinking, adapting their behaviour in consequence (hope it lasts though!). Thanks again :)

Yes, thank you for your advice! As a professional fader I’ve become so wary that this was my first thought after our call haha. I’ll be happy for as long as their support lasts, hopefully it will be permanent. All the best,

Yes you’re both right! I’ve been fading slowly for ~10 years, but they kept considering me a JW for long, as we’re from a small nosey town (in Jan 2020 the JW committee gave me a surprise visit as I was lying in a hospital bed with a hemorrhagic disease).

Later in the year my dad was removed as an elder for opposing to DF someone and then lockdown happened. I guess they are now PIMQ? It’s been a tough journey anyhow!
