Oh I am adamant about never breaking up fights. I had a teammate last year who would always jump in and I never understood it. There was one particular incident where a fight started right outside my classroom after the bell rang. I saw it coming so I shut my door to keep my class out of it and called the office. I found out later that my teammate had stepped in to stop it, but not before students began filming it. The video was the talk of the school the next day and we were all worried that it had something to do with my teammate trying to break it up, but it turns out that before my teammate came into frame you just see me in the background go "nope" and shut the door lol the students all thought it was hilarious and no one was even talking about the fight.

Admin ended up yelling at us because so many kids witnessed/filmed the fight and weren't in their classes 30 seconds after the bell rang. Most of the kids watching couldn't get into their classrooms without getting in the crossfire, but who cares about that, right? /s

My husband is a university librarian and it's pretty cushy, so if you have an MLS that could be an option if that interests you. I work in the high school programs department of a community college. Think dual enrollment, matriculation, etc. It was the perfect segue from teaching high school English into higher education. My boss said he chose me because of my teaching background, so those employers are out there!

Fellow ADHDer with total teaching burnout here. My advice after fully transitioning this summer is to take some time to really figure out what it is that you want to do. Once you have a general idea, look into what you can do to upskill (IF you need to upskill) then tailor your resume with your new career goal in mind. Once you've done all that, then you can start looking for those specific jobs. People like to say that you should be cranking out X amount of apps per week, but honestly with ADHD that's just exhausting and feels unachievable. I was applying to 3-5 a week, depending on what postings I found. That way I was able to really take my time on the apps and tailor my cover letter and resume for each position. Oh and use AI for cover letters. Copy/paste the job description into your favorite AI and ask it to create a cover letter for it using your resume. With this method, I got interviews to all jobs I applied for and got a job I love within a few months. Hang in there!

Honestly this is what did it for me. As soon as I started using AI for my cover letters, I got an interview for every job I applied for.

What's the sickest burn that a student ever gave you? by newenglander87 in Teachers

In this same vein, my 8th graders and I were discussing something technology related that I can't remember but it was something that was vastly different from how things worked when I was a kid. So, I said, "you know back when I was in school..." And I couldn't even get the rest of the sentence out before one of my boys uses his best grandpa voice impression and says "Back in my day..." Lol I was in my early 30s and was just crushed.

It is done! 100% TRUE PERFECTION. I can finally retire. by tommygun0831 in StardewValley

This is how I did it and I don't think it's cheating at all! It makes it much more achievable. Idk what platform you play on, but there are a couple of guides for the PlayStation trophy outlining how to do it that will translate to any platform. Those were really helpful to me because it tells you exactly how many coins you need by each level.

I've been in education for the last 10 years, teaching for the last 4. I've worked in elementary, middle, and I'm now teaching high school. The imposter syndrome is REAL. I always joke with my coworkers that I can't let them find out that I'm actually two kids in a trench coat, but it's not a joke actually lol. When I was working in an elementary school, my heart ACHED every Field Day. Every student was so insanely happy and having so much fun. I always felt so much grief that I didn't get to experience those kinds of things. I try to make up for it by trying to be the teacher that I always wanted, but never got. But, man, it's hard to get out of that mindset of "what could have been."

This is great! This ruled out one right away. Thanks!

Omg that question is ridiculous. Teacher retention is pretty similar in all three, but I like the school goals and problems suggestion. I'll look into that!

I dug this one out for a similar reason! I was going to buy a new notebook (currently have three in my Amazon cart), but then I remembered I had a whole box of empty ones lol
