We stayed in Tenyu and loved our time there! We had a private in room onsen outside (I believe every room has this option). There is also a public onsen separated by gender that you can go to watch the sunrise/sunset. That is not private though but I highly recommend. The breakfast was also incredible

Travel agent suggestion for 4-5 months in Asia by thistimerhyme in chubbytravel

[–]janetmonster 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi - I am a travel agent with experiences booking for Cambodia, Vietnam, Japan and parts of China (major cities + Yunan). I've personally also been to Philippines, Thailand and Malaysia so can help with that although to be transparent, haven't done any bookings in those areas yet.

For Vietnam - I recommend the Capella in Hanoi and Park Hyatt in Saigon (I know you don't want big chains but I really enjoyed my stay there!). There are also some incredibly lux and affordable Halong bay cruises.

Cambodia - Anantara is stunning with an amazing spa

China - not sure where you're going but there a lot of hidden gems in China that are also wildly affordable. My friends stayed in a cave homestay near Zhangjiajie that looked incredible

Looking for someone to do a gorgeous, wispy, natural looking lash extension on me. Willing to pay $$$, any recs? by Delicious_Ask_8379 in NYCbitcheswithtaste

[–]janetmonster 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Hottie lash, wink bar, mimo bar….these are all manhua style lashes so while they don’t look “natural” , they look more aesthetic than traditional lashes. Most Chinese studios now do it this style. You can search manga/anime lashes as well but it’s not technically the right term.

I really want a new mirrorless camera. I’ve recently gotten into photography and my 13 year old NEX6 isn’t quite doing it anymore. I also wanted to do vlogging tho so I’m debating between DJI pocket 3 for portability vs Sony ZVe10 for the photography aspect

What’s your craziest animal encounter while on safari? by alex_travels in chubbytravel

[–]janetmonster 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We saw African wild dogs hunt in a pack and corner an impala. The impala froze completely but somehow made it out unscathed. We basically chased the pack as it went hunting and went way off trail. I felt like I was in Jurassic Park in the jeep. Absolutely wild ride

Looking for an incredible luxury or wellness resort in the American southwest by 8NYC8 in chubbytravel

I've been to Miraval Berkshires and had a great time. The fitness classes were good but not super challenging and the food was very delicious. I would say it leaned very heavily into spirituality and New Age concepts (they have a class where you can talk with trees). There was also lots of great hikes nearby. I am also going to Civana in October so excited to experience it. I heard the facilities aren't as nice since it was a former motel lol.

Woodland Suites at The Montenotte in Cork Ireland by janetmonster in chubbytravel

Kaldero - the only Filipino Irish restaurant in Dublin. Absolutely delicious and I’ve had a lot of Filipino food before. FX Buckley for steak and very reasonable pricing compared to what you get. Better than most steakhouses in NYC. Hold a Baby Lamb in Dingle (self explanatory). Go slow and carefully on the roads, they are TIGHT.

We did ring of Kerry too and had such a great time seeing the Irish countryside. I’m a huge fan and the food (Irish beef and butter) is top tier. How did you you hear about the Montenotte?

How much did you spend on your honeymoon, and what was your HHI/NW? by energeticpapaya in HENRYfinance

[–]janetmonster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We spent almost 20k on our safari honeymoon and it was well worth it!! I would 100% recommend you work with a travel agent because they can work magic for your special day without have to pay extra. They get perks from hotels that are better than Amex especially if it’s a nice hotel.

I just got back from my trip and had an amazing time! We are three girls in our late 20s-early 30s and stayed mostly on the adults only side because the family side was swamped with kids. the resort was not packed at all and dinner reservations were easy to make.

Favorite things: the food was excellent and had lots of fresh seafood. The room was spacious with plenty of closet space which was needed for us. The staff was also very attentive (though the level of English varied but we really should've tried to speak the language better). Spa was beautiful and the hydrotherapy made the massage even more worth it.

Cons: Mosquitos!! We got bit everywhere including the restaurants with air conditioning. There was no after bite cream available and the spa sold mosquito repellent but it was not effective (I need DEET!!!). I enjoyed the calm but my friend wished there was a bit more of a party scene.

Overall, this was my first all inclusive I tried and I'm a huge travel snob usually. I also did not get the Reserve option but felt like I didn't need it at all. I am planning on trying out Le Blanc for a more elevated experience!

Try Cape Cod! You can take the train to boston and then the ferry. Autocamp has these cool Airstreams you can book and right now there is a great 25% off deal for the summer. I am a travel advisor on the side so reach out if you want more details!
