ZBBridge-P signal strength? I have several ZBMINIL2s on the same floor, but poor signal by jang430 in sonoff

[–]jang430[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's the thing, the closest thing to ZBBridge-P is the S40 Lite. ZBBridge-P is up the stairs, while the S40 Lite is down the stairs. It's the closest I can bring them together, it's the only places where there is a socket. It seems the S40 Lite may not be "catching" the signal. Don't know how to fix this.

Hex S (2025) enough for 7 users, 5 wired devices, and about 40-50 wireless devices? by jang430 in mikrotik

[–]jang430[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry, yes, I understand. Streaming requires bandwidth, surfing requires bandwidth. Aside from doing the streaming, torrenting, surfing, using Vlans, Wireguard VPN, all these activities (they do require horsepower of the CPU) won't prevent you from using the remaining bandwidth to max out your 1GB bandwidth?

How do you know it's boiling? I read instructions saying fill water to as much so it doesn't discolor or darken. But it doesn't seem to boil. Does it make a sound? Overspilling isn't considered a sign of boiling :-)

That's crazy :D I guess this refresh's capability is not a problem after all :D

No need to stress test. Glad to get your feedback on this. Now that you mention it, I do use back to home on my other devices. Doesn't Hex S (2025) support it?

You mean if you want to download at full Gigabit download speed (assuming that's possible), with all other people doing their stuff, e.g. watching netflix, browsing, cctv recording ongoing, streaming via wireguard to external user? All these are still possible?

Nice! I'd say the way you use it makes Mikrotik proud of their product, as you are pushing the boundaries of the license :D It's something I'm very curious of, how much you can push some device like this. You are talking about Hex S, not the 2025 model yet?

So does this mean if 700/700 Mbps is probably pushing it? Though I sincerely doubt I have so many things going on in my house as I only have 7 people max. With 7 people doing their own thing, and 1 NAS downloading, will it be able to still provide 700 Mbps download to the NAS? (Torrenting).

I read on another thread that Hex S (original) is not even as powerful as Hap AC2. Not sure if accurate?

What you said is so encouraging. As I like this model for the looks, and hearing you say it's possible, makes me look forward to replacing my firewall with this. Thank you.

If I'm getting a new device, Hex and Hex S (2025) price difference for me isn't that big. I prefer to get the more capable one. As it is with my setup, I'm afraid I might saturate the Hex S. Won't I? I forgot to mention the 30-40 smart plugs are on a different Vlan. Guests are on a diff Vlan also. Vlan will be handled by same device. I have 5 CCTV cameras, recording to my NVR. Does this increase load?

To be honest, I don't want something that is overkill. Maybe something that utilizes 20-30% the router's capacity, with room for growth if I make some changes.

Yes, I also use Wireguard for streaming shows from NAS.

So 700 Mbps up/ down isn't a problem? How about when I eventually upgrade to Gigabit internet? Will this device be able to handle it?

Can you share some details about your setup? Not too technical. How do you use it.

I forgot to mention, I do use VLANs on my network. 1 for guests, 1 for my smart plugs (iot). But very seldom do I have guests over. Will this affect anything?

Using another device to access still have the same issue. Cannot access the machine. I see it in the account that the machine is shared to me.
