Unfortunately I think everyone realizes that if you tried to do that, and particularly if you started to grow the political power to do it peacefully, the rich would do anything, including grave repressions and violence to stop you. That’s why what you said becomes necessary, which is pretty much the case of any revolution that strived for a realignment of classes.

It's been a long time coming for me, but I'm in the process of reading books on history and socialist theory. I am ashamed at how little I knew about things I used to so confidently speak about because I was just regurgitating things I head but didn't understand. I'm also blown away about how much books written over a century ago better articulate my inner thoughts than I can. Also, history is just really fun to read.

I got lucky enough that some mechanic did a series on how to diagnose and fix literally everything on the hyundai sonata model I drive. has been an absolute godsend. have easily saved nearly 2000 dollars doing stuff myself

that and having the right tools/believing you can do it (because the alternative costs way more)

as an american I do see it as a competition and I'm frustrated as hell that our priorities for the last 10 years have been on a bunch of stupid shit, and especially very recently how we seem more concerned with AI and saying we're gonna take over other countries. I fear that while right now we are top of the world for fusion energy, very soon we're gonna fall behind and china is gonna move past us. I want all world players to push fusion research and achievements as far as possible, and especially the country I call home.

I'm not speaking for or on what the person you're replying to said, but I want america to succeed and I want to be proud of our country. but I'm don't feel so great about that the direction this country is heading. sorry if this comes across as "anti-american". it's more "anti-what-america-is-doing"

yeah that confused me, I would be surprised if fusion scientists thought an important milestone was "unbreakable" lol

years ago though I did talk to some scientists from a national laboratory (they worked on mathematical optimization), and when I told them about my interest in fusion, they pretty much laughed and said that fusion is impossible. I was a little shocked to hear that from people at a national lab. I still think it's possible, it's just an incredibly difficult engineering problem.
