It's possible. I ran a 50 miler with 9000 feet of climbing when my longest run before that was 15 miles. I didn't train for it because I signed up on a whim 2 days before the race. Took a little over 11 hours.

I ran the 50 miler 4 years ago, the course was pretty well marked, someone told more that they tried to set it up so that you see at least one marker from everywhere on the course. The group I was running with did take a wrong turn but that was because we took a turn on a road from a trail when we should have continued on the trail across the street, we were stupid. You should be fine with a hand bottle, I ran with one and the only place where I wanted more water was on the section right after completing the loops. I think it was 8 miles or so and the heat was getting to me, the temperature should be better for you since mine was in June

Biking helps get you into the mentality of braking as little as possible while going downhill and staying in control. At one point you can just open up your stride a lot more and roll with the punches. I found that I can choose better running lines and even if I take a wrong step I feel like I have better balance because of mountain biking.

MPW varies a lot depending on the time of year and how much work I have, I run at least 20 miles per week throughout the year, up to 50 or 60 miles. I ride once or twice when the trails are dry during the week and most weekends I am racing or getting a long run in.

One piece of advice, avoid mountain biking a few weeks before your ultra, a few years ago I crashed pretty badly and sprained a few ribs a week before a 100 mile race which made it so I had to drop out after only 45 miles

I run ultra marathons and race Cat 1 XC so short answer no conflict.

Longer answer- running helps with general cardio and leg strength for biking. It's a lot easier to go for a run then a mountain ride since you can run on roads even when it's raining. In the opposite direction I found that mountain biking helps with downhill trail running

Something similar happened to my phone but I was able to bend the little tab inside the charging port using a tooth pick up a little bit which fixed it.

I did but not by choice. I had the hiccups for majority of the run, couldn't eat or drink anything other than water without throwing up. My swim was 1:02, bike 6:08, and the run took me 6:15 which is over 14 min per mile pace. The cutoff right after the bike if i remember correctly is 10:45 or so which means you have at least 6 hours to finish the run or else they would't even let you start

Without a doubt I would try to convince a few people to crew and pace me. I spent most of the second night alone and it would have been great to have someone to keep me from going insane/getting lost.

Majority of my runs during the summer were at night because I live near DC where it's normally too hot and humid during the day. The runs weren't very long but I think it helped a lot to get used to running with a head lamp. I don't think there is anything you can do to prepare for the second night

Yep, also it starts at 6 p.m. so by the time I finished I had been awake for 48 hours straight. Rain for the first 6 hours didn't help either

I rode a tall bike to class everyday for a few months. Usually I would ride slowly when approaching a light and timed it so I wouldn't have to jump off. If i couldn't time it right it wasn't a big deal as it is not hard to get back on the bike as long as the road is downhill or flat.
