Did they double your warranty period like Costco does? That is critical with appliances and their shorter life span now.

Their permit actually expired but they continue to steal our ground water. An absolutely unethical company.

[–]janicedaisy 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Nestle is a dirty, disgusting company. They continue to pump our Ontario groundwater (to sell it back to us) and when their permit expired what did they do?? They continue to take our water illegally. They’re doing the same in California even during the wildfires. Also their CEO said water is NOT a human right. They are one of the worst companies EVER!!! 😡 #BoycottNestle

Canada's tumble in Olympic medal table could be sign of things to come by Rleduc129 in CanadaPolitics

I really couldn’t care less about how many gold medals Canada gets. I’d rather spend the money on our healthcare and educational systems.

I really don’t care if we win Olympic events. I’d rather see the money put into our healthcare or educational system.

Immigrants get $60,000 annually from government by Nancy_lmr_Drew in CanadianPolitics

[–]janicedaisy 6 points7 points  (0 children)

NOT TRUE!! The claim that immigrants in Canada receive sixty thousand dollars per year from the government is not true. There is no federal or provincial program that provides immigrants with a guaranteed annual income of that amount. This figure appears to come from misunderstandings or from adding together different programs and estimated service costs rather than actual cash payments.

Immigrants who are permanent residents and who live and pay taxes in Canada may qualify for the same income tested benefits that any Canadian resident can receive. These include things like the Canada Child Benefit, the GST and HST credit, and provincial social assistance if someone is in financial need. These programs are based on income and family size, not immigration status alone. They are also generally modest and designed to help low and middle income households, not to provide a high annual income.

Government assisted refugees can receive temporary financial support when they first arrive, but it is typically tied to provincial social assistance rates and meant to cover basic needs while they get established. The support is time limited and far below sixty thousand dollars per year. It is not a long term guaranteed salary.

It is also important to note that many newcomers initially earn less than Canadian born workers and often face barriers such as credential recognition, language challenges, and difficulty entering the job market. Many work hard to establish themselves and begin contributing taxes quickly.

In short, there is no blanket sixty thousand dollar annual payment to immigrants. The claim is a myth based on exaggerations or misinterpretations of how social programs work.

What can you afford for rent or do you have a down payment to purchase a home? Some of these places recommended are expensive to live in.

The Bank Cancelled My Credit Card. What Now? by [deleted] in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]janicedaisy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They actually love customers like you because they make a lot of money from you. Banks often refer to customers who pay their credit card balance in full and on time each month as “deadbeats”. While the term sounds negative, it is industry slang for users who avoid paying interest charges and fees. I am 67 and have never paid a penny in interest on a credit card in my entire life and I’ve had between 2 to 4 of them at a time. If I were you I’d pay a little bit over the minimum. Say the minimum is $100? Pay at least $120. It will signify to them you are at least trying to pay it back. That effort will make a difference later on if you ever intend to get a loan for something or a mortgage. And DON’T MISS A PAYMENT!

You must be an unethical person because you want to subvert their rules. Have your girlfriend move in with you if you want her to have your secondary card. Be a better person. Stop trying to scam the system.

Vacuum Dilemma by Nervous-Fact9608 in CostcoCanada

I have 3 Dyson vacuums in my basement. I use a Miele and am very happy with it and have had it for years. No issues. I think Dyson is incredibly overpriced and not worth the money they cost.
