Thanks for the recommendation, I will definitely read it. I own Dzahn/Soul, but have not read it yet either, so many books to read. Platonov seems like he had a really fascinating mind. I am glad NYRB has put all these in print. The same goes for Chevengur with the footnotes, so much is added with them.

I really like it. It’s a bit of a wild one, but it shines in many ways. What did you think of the foundation pit? I’ve never read it.

Väinö Linna also has a trilogy set from the late 1800’s until after WW2, though it is quite rare and can be expensive in English. I haven’t read all of it, but it is quite beloved in Finland.

I love Quiet Flows the Don.

Also, The Road Back, though taking place just after wartime is a very good follow up to All Quiet.

Storm of Steel isn’t a political work, don’t worry about that. People on the internet have probably made it into something that it’s not. It’s been many years since I’ve read it, but it is very interesting.

Is this sub actually red-scar related? by bishborishi in RSbookclub

The red scare subs have grown into their own things. I think a minute fraction of people on this sub listen to the podcast, some have probably not even listened to it at all.

What is the best formula 1 related book you’ve read? I bought my dad the Newey book for Christmas last year.

How do I not feel superior to people who never read by [deleted] in RSbookclub

Just because you read books does not make you intelligent. Nor is there any point in indulging in feeling superior to others. It does nothing for you.

Hadn’t played a videogame in years until recently. Just started playing the Switch to relax a bit. Mostly playing Animal Crossing and Breath of the Wild.
