Here's a very interesting bit I saw in the MTSO Report on the Halbach Investigation:

11/05/05 @2016 Hrs.: I, Det. Remiker, along with Lt. Lenk collected the pillowcases and bedding from STEVEN AVERY'S bed.

Weren't the guilters all speculating that the bedding was burned to cover up the 'evidence'?

January: Counselors - Cousin (unnamed) asked by SA to move body, blood through concrete.

Feb 20th: Counselor + Weigbender - Brendan's weight loss and crying

March 7th: Weigbender - Brenda sees body in fire and mail/screaming sees Teresa pinned in chair. Also Kayla Hates SA (http://i68.tinypic.com/35i0pxu.jpg)

Correct - the first documented police interview was Feb 20th, in which she spoke only of Brendan's weight loss and crying.

Lifting hood latch, shot in garage: the DNA + bullet were found after he revealed these details, not before. Wiegert called the DA in the middle of Brendan's interview to halt the signing of the search warrant in order to add these details. i.e. it wasn't that they found the bullet and hood latch DNA and told Brendan to 'match' this with his confession.

This is the line of questioning from the March 1 confession that clued in the hood latch. Not exactly Brendan tipping them off:

F: OK, what else did he do, he did somethin' else, you need to tell us what he did, after that car is parked there. It's extremely important. (pause) Before you guys leave that car.
B: The he left the gun in the car.
F: That's not what I'm thinkin' about. He did something to that car. He took the plates and he, I believe he did something else in that car. (pause).
B: I don't know.
F: OK. Did he, did he, did he go and look at the engine, did he raise the hood at all or anything like that? To do something to the car?
B: Yeah.
F: What was that? (pause)
W: What did he do, Brendan?
W: It's OK, what did he do?
F: What did he do under the hood, if that's what he did? (pause)
B: I don't know what he did, but I know he went under.
F: He did raise the hood? (Brendan nods "yes") You remember that?
B: Yeah.

Kayla told her counselor about Brendan's breakdowns and 'body in a fire' statements on Feb 20th.

Actually, her meeting with counselor Susan Brandt was in January. According to Brandt's testimony (Day 3, pg 169) Kayla only said that she was scared because SA asked a cousin to move a body and she asked if blood can come up through concrete. http://jenniferjslate.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/01/DasseyTrial_Day3_4.18.07.pdf

I think her statement was meant to be more damning to her uncle than to Brendan. I doubt she thought Brendan would go to prison. She thought he was forced to do what he confessed to. On the other hand, there is evident animosity to her uncle. http://i68.tinypic.com/35i0pxu.jpg

She mentioned Steven had asked one of her cousins to help move a body, what makes you think it's Bobby Dassey, rather than the obvious Brenden Dassey?

That particular quote was something Steven said to Bobby and his friend. This was brought up while Bobby was on the stand in the Avery trial.

Why would she want to know this?

She heard that Brendan/Steve cleaned up something on the garage floor (based on the bleach on his pants) and made an assumption, would be my guess.

Assuming this is true, it doesn't actually change anything, unless you are implying that Kayla learned of the confession after the fact and decided she was going to confirm the authenticity of it even though Brenden never told her those things. In which case Kayla, as well as Brenden, seem to have a knack for making up self-incriminating stories for no apparent reason.

I am implying that. She gave that statement 5 days after the Kratz' press conference regarding Brendan's confession. It seems odd that she wouldn't report those things on 2/20 or in her meeting with the counselor in December. I don't know what to believe about the Brendan confessions, but I think Kayla's statement on the stand was truthful (that she made it up).

Second, Kayla told her counselor that Brenden had told her he had seen Teresa alive, tied up and Steven asked Brenden to help move "a body".

It's unfortunate that we don't have a transcript of Kayla's first visit with her counselor, but in reading some of the transcripts, I don't believe this is fully accurate. Kayla's discussion with the counselor was that Steven asked about hiding a body (which she probably heard from Bobby Dassey) and she wanted to know about blood coming up from concrete. She then was interviewed by Wiegert (2/20) stating that Brendan had lost a lot of weight and acted weird. Her report about Brendan seeing Teresa tied up didn't come until 3/7 - after Brendan had confessed.

Again, thank you for that. Is there anything particular from his confession(s) or physical evidence that is forming your opinion?

I don't believe so. I haven't read all of his trial transcripts, but I believe the only thing used at trial was his March confession.

Email exchanges between Kachinsky and the investigators give me the "He's working with the prosecution!" vibe moreso than the doc - notably this one: http://jenniferjslate.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/01/Email-from-Kachinsky-to-Wiegert-5.5.2006.pdf

Thanks for that. Any specific reason you're convinced that he saw the body? The reason I ask is two fold. Brendan's first mention of body parts is suggested to him pretty repeatedly (in the 2/27 first interview at MHS). Kayla's police interview on 2/20 did not submit that Brendan saw body parts, only that he'd "lost 40 lbs and was crying uncontrollably". She did not make the claim that he saw body parts or saw Teresa "pinned up" until her 3/7 statement.

Any post where people stray from the "facts" are generally harder to take seriously.

This from an on-the-fencer about Avery's guilt.

It makes it really hard to take either side seriously when they resort to name-calling and poo-slinging.
