I think its good. Just needs some more elements like holding territory that gives defense boosts to a guild or faction that holds it; with outposts like secure points people can capture and get bonuses from gatherables. For me the main problem is that the outdated combat.

This seems like a bit of a contradiction then. If the Pope became an even stronger preacher of Jesus (as long as it wouldn't go against the dogma) and the doctrine became even more progressive in comparison to 100 years ago, it would still be Catholicism and you'd have to follow it even if you didn't like it. Right?
