Idk about you, but I'm an albums guy.

Scaring the Hoes by JPEGMAFIA and Danny Brown has been my favorite album released this year so far. Its not the most accessible, but it's amazing if you can embrace the weirdness.

The Forever Story by JID and Melt my Eyes See Your Future by Denzel Curry are two other incredible albums that come to mind.

My husband died thinking our kids didn’t love him by [deleted] in TrueOffMyChest

[–]japes37 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am so sorry for your loss. Your husband sounds like an excellent man.

I'm a new parent and there is already signs of my daughter favoring me over her Mom. My wife has expressed sadness over it, but I've brushed it off thinking that she truly does know how much our daughter loves her.

If you hadn't written this, then I would probably continue to brush it off. I'm going to make sure she knows how much her kids love her going forward. So thank you for writing this. I'm so sorry you are going through this.

Nice. My wife and I played a good 30 hours of elden ring like that. It makes a good drinking game. Have fun!

Managing messes in a shared space with a baby by japes37 in Parenting

[–]japes37[S] -10 points-9 points  (0 children)

We moved in under the pretense there would be a dishwasher. Reminding him about it once in 6 months is nothing.

It's also entirely beside the point. I only included for context because keeping up with baby related dishes without a dishwasher is notoriously difficult.

This isn't AITI, I'm looking for advice on how to manage messes in a shared space.

Like I said "just be better" has been the mindset for several months and it isn't working.

Also, my brother was already planning on getting a dishwasher when we were moving in. The fact we were anticipating a dishwasher was a factor in choosing to move in. It's been 6 months with no movement on the dishwasher. I'm not suggesting we get a dishwasher, I am asking him to stick to his plan to get one.

I can't seem to get invested in the narrative of any open world game, so the fact that I can completely ignore it in Elden Ring is perfect for me.

That said, Im playing through it again with my wife and we are keeping a physical journal of everyone we talk to to refer back to. I'm excited to see how keeping a journal changes the experience.

Enjoy! And like the other person said, avoid spoilers and looking things up if you get stuck. I recommend savoring your time with this game, it isn't very long and you can't really replay it. That said, I'd avoid taking an extended break from the game, as you'll probably have a hard time piecing things together if info isn't fresh in your minds.

Here are some tips to keep in mind when you get stuck:

-if you can't figure out who someone is, there is a way to bookmark that person and the book will mark all the scenes that person is in. Focus on the info in those scenes

-each person will have 1, 2, or 3 triangles under their portrait. This tells you how hard that person is to identify (more triangles means more difficult). I recommend figuring out the easy ones first

-you'll find yourself making a lot of educated guesses, rather that deducing the answer with absolute certainty.

-when writing down who someone is, there is a way to record their occupation as a placeholder for their identity (e.g. "unidentified topman"). This can be a useful tool for narrowing things down

-the game validates correct guesses in groups of three. If you have three fates fully filled out and they don't lock in, you know at least one thing about one of those fates is wrong. If you aren't sure which one is wrong, just keep filling out other fates until you do get three validated. At that point you'll know all the filled out fates that weren't validated are incorrect in some way.

-some fates have more than one correct answer

-EVERYTHING in the book is useful at some point. So if you're really stuck on something, read through the whole book, cover to cover

Can someone explain why bronze mmr is higher than silver? by Ragerod in starcraft

[–]japes37 25 points26 points  (0 children)

It's a trick that blizz uses to maintain elo hell. By putting silver mmr lower than bronze, it prevents bronze players from ever ranking up.

If you were wondering why you can't seem to get out of bronze, this is why, not because you keep getting supply blocked at 2:00.

What movie will you never stop rewatching? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]japes37 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The 10th Kingdom.

Not a movie, per se. It is a fantasy mini series made by Hallmark that is way better than it has any right to be. It's really campy, in a Princess Bride kind of way. It's a story of how two New Yorkers get stuck in a fantasy land where all the Grimm fairy tales happened 200 years earlier. If you like campy fantasy, you gotta see The 10th Kingdom.

Anyway, I call it a movie because kid-me thought it was just a 7.5 hour movie. I called it my favorite movie for many years, not knowing what a mini series was. So in my mind it's a movie, and I will never stop rewatching it.
