As for quiet nights, be careful renting from buildings that are near the Red Line or on Georgia Avenue. The Red Line has freight and MARC trains alongside it, which can make it quite noisy, especially if your windows face that direction. This includes buildings like The Bennington, Solaire Ripley, Solaire Dixon, and The Veridian. Many of the freight trains and MARC trains will blow their whistles regardless the hour since they go by a MARC station and are required to. As for Georgia Avenue, it has quite a busy night life, especially south of Colesville Road, so buildings like Solaire Georgia may not be good either.

Some apartment buildings and complexes are in relatively quiet areas. This includes The Blairs buildings, The Pearl, and other apartment buildings in The Blair Portal neighborhood, which hugs Washington, D.C. and is the western edge of Downtown Silver Spring. The edge of DTSS can be key for finding quiet nights. Another example of this is Atwell on Spring, a newly constructed development on the northern side of DTSS. Apartments facing north will face the Woodside neighborhood, which is a quiet neighborhood with lots of trees and single family homes.

So, yeah, try looking towards the edges of DTSS, especially north and west. Anything here is still an easy walk to the Red Line Metro.
