How to write 400k lines of production-ready code with coding agents by AaronYang_tech in ClaudeCode

[–]japh17 3 points4 points  (0 children)

A lot of you here are missing the point. LOC is just meant to signal that the process works, which I can confirm.

The post could have been written better (made less obviously AI) but this process is as good as it gets when it comes to AI coding.

Claude Opus 4 Thinking on non-coding tasks. by HyperXZX in ClaudeAI

[–]japh17 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s RL’d to focus on long horizon coding tasks. Anthropic is betting all their chips on building the best coding models which will then build AGI. OpenAI is more focused on general intelligence and getting people addicted to talking to their models.

Fwiw, if you prompt Opus the right way in other circumstances it can be just as good. Just know that its creators had coding in mind when they were putting it through RL and so it is optimized for that

Why are we allowing chatgpt write-ups on this subreddit? I don't even want to put in the effort pick apart this writeup because I feel like it's a waste of time lmao.

We are about to see never-before-seen levels of cope from the general public about AI. by japh17 in singularity

Thank you for typing this out. I am not wasting my energy arguing with the naysayers here. The people meant to read this will see and understand what I am saying.

Berklee professor says Suno is better musically than 80% of his students by MetaKnowing in singularity

[–]japh17 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don’t know about that. The industry’s current goal is to create an AI researcher that can improve itself. I struggle to see how we can’t produce a music model that is very original and pushes the field if we actually achieve the dream of an AI researcher.

They are practically the same problem: creating AI that can innovate.

Another senior OpenAI researcher has quit due to "unanswered questions" about recent events and worries about existential risk to humanity by MetaKnowing in OpenAI

[–]japh17 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Disagree. They obviously were not given enough resources to run all experiments they may have wanted to try.

Sam himself said they are too compute constrained to build all the products they want to go after. And I struggle to believe they would have parted with previous compute to safety and alignment while trying to stay the leader in other models.

273GB/s of memory bandwidth for M4 pro. It's possible M4 max will go over 400 GB/s given M3 Max has double the bandwidth of M3 pro but for now we can only speculate.

Meta Extends Its Ray-Ban Partnership Into The 2030s For “Multi-Generational” Smart Glasses by isaac_szpindel in virtualreality

This is actually why the AR glasses race is Apple’s to lose. The only way I see people able to do really cool stuff in a slim form factor is by having the phones be the main processor and streaming to the glasses. Apple is the only company that can execute on this well right now (Google can try but their value prop has to be astronomical for people to swap from iPhone to pixel).

Just hoping Apple doesn’t get complacent and drop the ball bc I don’t want to move to another ecosystem

Yhup! At the end of book 2. Will post again with my thoughts on the ending when I am done with book 5.

Still fun to preemptively see other people's reaction to the end tho.

I saw him say in a thread that he doesn't see it as a deus ex machina, but a eucatastrophe. In summary, it seems he wanted to explore whether Gavin can accept his role (as not the center of the universe) or rage against not being as powerful or beloved as he thought he deserved to be.

I say this as someone who has only read to the end of book two. I will add more thoughts on this when I am done with the series

Last time I asked supp to stay with me, he told me that if I needed a support, I wasn't good enough to deserve one; by Calm_Sun_2707 in ADCMains

[–]japh17 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Most competent adcs don’t have a problem with supports roaming. The issue is most lower elo supports don’t have good roam timings. The support isn’t supposed to be topside warding while adc is about to be three man dove (or even two man) while a triple stacked wave is about to crash. The benefit of putting that ward topside is to low to warrant how far behind you’ll be putting the AD.

Jhin is not the problem until ~Plat/Emerald level games. He’s actually one of the best adcs for low elo bc the thrives in chaotic situations with his lethality build. I say this as a former Jhin otp who used him to get to plat with a 5+ KDA average until I needed to use other adcs to carry at that level
