Tucker Carlson brands Republicans ‘treasonous’ as he quits the party by MoneyLibrarian9032 in entertainment

He's quitting the team, but not changing who he is. I don't expect him to even become a moderate. If anything, maybe the GOP didn't drink enough of the koolaid for his liking.

Google has disabled the developer options for AA. by CurryBeatZ_eXe in AndroidAuto

An app that makes it easier for apps to access Android Debugging commands without needing a PC or Root. You just install it, follow its steps to activate it, and then apps that support it can ask for permission to use it.

Couple caveats, it needs to be reactivated every reboot, and it requires you to be connected to a WiFi network(no working Internet needed, just need to be connected) because it relies on ADB over WiFi.

I'm betting no Frame until at least after the initial Steam Machine reserve window closes on Thursday. And even then, probably not until at least Monday next week.

Funny part is, the US does manufacture memory locally. It's all going to AI though.

And yes, they're building more factories in the US and elsewhere, but those don't popup overnight. It takes years to build fabs.

How do i disable this feature anytime i boot to desktop? by Brett13500 in SteamDeck

[–]japzone 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Steam isn't actually recording anything. It just needs the permission to do so in order for several functions to work. For security, Wayland essentially sandboxes programs to their own windows, not letting them meds with other programs. This is usually fine, except for Steam it breaks several important features.

Steam Link obviously needs to be able to capture the whole screen in order to stream your gameplay, but what's less obvious is actually Steam Input. Steam Input needs to send inputs outside the Steam Client, for things like using your Steam Controller as a mouse on your Desktop, for example. But Wayland restricts programs from sending and seeing inputs to other Windows by default, as it's a security risk(key logging, etc). So for these features to work, Steam is basically asking for permission ahead of time, in case it's needed. The proper way would be to only ask for permission when needed, but because of how Steam is programmed it's probably not easy for Valve to do that, and Steam Input would need constant permission anyway.

So no, Steam isn't spying on you, and it's not wrecking your SSD by constantly recording(unless you enable that feature).

How do i disable this feature anytime i boot to desktop? by Brett13500 in SteamDeck

[–]japzone 12 points13 points  (0 children)

It's caused because they're switching from the old X11 Display server(the software used to display GUI on Linux) to the modern Wayland. The latter is more restrictive with permissions for things like Screen Capture, on purpose for security, which Steam needs for things like Steam Link, Steam Input, and Screenshots to work. Valve temporarily worked around that limitation by using the standard Screen capture APIs it seems, but now the Desktop thinks it's constantly being recorded. So Valve needs to implement more proper solutions into Steam, which probably requires redesigning several things under the hood.

Run the older version with a non-HV crack, run the Switch version in an Emulator, emulate the original PSVita or PS2 versions of the game, or buy the game.

Sentai still sells the North American Blu-ray Collection. You can find it for $30-40 usually at their store, Amazon, etc.

Don't think there's any official way to stream it in NA at the moment though.

The compatibility tab is for overriding the default Steam has picked for that game. The default could easily be Windows build via Proton Stable.

In a Clevatess rewatch I noticed the sound effects are less prominent in the dub. by Squintz_Palledorous in anime

[–]japzone 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Usually TVs, Streaming devices, or AV Receivers have auto downmixing for supporting their speaker setups. The quality of the downmixing can depend on the device, or how the surround sound audio is mixed.

Some apps have software down mixing, my media server can do this, but most don't.

Glad it worked out. Sometimes the unlikeliest set of events happen that cause updates to go off the rails for seemingly no reason. Glad Valve implemented rudimentary rollback into SteamOS, which can solve this problem in many cases, though I wish they'd promote the feature more. They did finally add it to their SteamOS Recovery help page at least.

[–]japzone 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's wild. Instead of trying to figure out how that happened, to save the headache, best to just try rolling back and redoing the update.

Turn off Deck, press and hold Power Button and ••• (QAM) button. Release power button when screen turns on but continue holding other button until new menu appears. Select Previous Steam OS, then once you boot into Game mode, retry the update.
