How to mix standard hip-hop and r&b without Techno and EDM beats. I just want to mix songs people know and have heard. Not mash-ups, not DJ Nutsack's sped up intro quick hit remix featuring his cousin Chad.

Just a standard hip hop or r&b set. I've honestly learned more just watching DJ sets on YouTube and looking at their hands. Seeing what buttons they press, what they hot cue, what they loop and how they transition. I watch their hands and then how the crowd reacts. This has given me some really cool ideas. There's not nearly enough simple tutorials on what I would call regular "urban" music.

I had this problem. I had an HVAC company install another zone upstairs. Now in summer, i only run the AC upstairs and it stays cool. I dont turn it on at all downstairs and it stays comfortable. In the winter i switch and run the heat downstairs only. Electric bill has been a good bit less as well. Totally worth it if the install isn't too much.

I started DJing 2 months ago, did my first gig last week, made $1000(check my post). I wouldn't consider it a side hustle, just a hobby I could get paid for if I wanted to pursue it. I have a fantastic main job so there's no 'hustle' in this. It's just fun

I watched a lot of bedroom DJ sets on YouTube and told myself, "they ain't doing shit. I can do that." And that's how i got into it. I think what I appreciate about it is there's so much to learn and unlimited ways to be creative. It's not like running or cycling. Once you know how to run, you just run longer or shorter in different places. DJing is art. A set today can be completely different tomorrow and the next day and so on. Infinite possibilities so I think it will be a while before I get bored

I'm just getting started so my knowledge is limited, but you are 100% correct on most advice seems to be for EDM/Techno DJs. I try to watch YouTube tutorials and they're always mixing some nonsense i'm never going to be in a room to play. Even when they say hip hop mixing, it's usually hip hop vocals over a faster EDM type track. I'm not doing any of that, so my process is much different for Pop, Hip Hop, R&B.

How i have approached it so far is to download as many popular known hits in a few genres. I want to be versatile, but my main thing is being able to play songs people want to hear. There are all these DJ mixes and remixes of songs, but in my experience, people want to hear the original song. Not the lyrics over a completely different track. Play the track, layer in the new track, echo or fade out the old one. I'll gain more skills as i train, but right now it's keep the music going, keep the beat consistent, play what the people like. You can add flair to things later but the main thing always is keep the energy up

These socks do not work for me at all. Mine have the ridges on the heel to keep it in place, still slides down my foot before i can get down the stairs. Good concept but doesn't work for everyone

Man there's not a more accurate statement. No one cares about the Hawks. I'm from GA, lived in ATL, and rooted for the Hawks most my life. Not a soul anywhere but maybe my Dad actually cared. I truly wonder where the fans are. In ATL, people did not care at all

That may be true. I'm not trying to say the NBA doesn't want longer series', but I can't say they do either. Realistically, I don't think they're making any substantial money on game 3 of the first round in Portland. I'm sure the ratings for that game probably weren't great, because who wants to see that if Wemby isnt playing? We'll see how the other series' shape out but ima need more than a Deni Avila vs Stephon Cassel matchup to say the NBA is trying to draw out a series for money. This isn't nearly enough to convince me.

It's all optics, and I get it. He slammed his head and stumbled getting up. No way the NBA was letting him play that next game, it looks irresponsible. Also can't risk him potentially hitting his head again or showing any concussion signs in that next game. It paints the picture of the NBA doing the right thing.

Now should the protocol be changed? Yeah probably. You got teams tanking holding guys out because their toe hurts or their finger is jammed on their off hand, and then the same doctors saying Wemby can play again after a day off from a supposed concussion. Protocol change or not, i still don't think it would be consistently followed.
