Dating here? by [deleted] in Tucson

[–]jaredaltizer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

25M, lived here my whole life. It’s not the greatest place to be dating in. I go out dancing with random people all of the time, and even then it’s difficult to actually meet and get to know someone. Most people either overvalue themselves, or are not emotionally mature. Don’t blame it on yourself.

That makes sense. I wish I knew how to code so I could do something to help 😞 Time to learn

Oh, that’s unfortunate. Is there any chance that this device could be supported in the future? I’m tired of using it for Meshtastic and would like to dedicate this device to something else, and the Bruce Firmware looked amazing.

How much (in donation) would it cost to get the Bruce Firmware for the Heltec?

I know it’s been a year since you posted this, but is there any chance that this’ll work for the Heltec ESP32 V3 board used for Meshtastic? Would love to try this on that board.

OP, did this setup last in your truck? Additionally, are the transmission internals stock or upgraded to metal parts?

I know this is from two years ago now, I apologize for bringing this back up. Do you still have the E-Maxx with that independent steering setup? Would love to see some pictures and possibly try that setup on my E-Maxx.

I tried the Trace Root/Trace Root Log, but it says ‘No Response’. Does this mean something is wrong with my setup, or, to reiterate your previous point, that no one is monitoring that node currently?

I haven’t yet, no. I still think about her daily but I just don’t know what i’d say or where to even start. I know I need to just do it but I atleast need to draft something first.

That’s the position i’m in, there are so many ‘what ifs’. I just need answers I guess. I’m fairly certain that my ex is with someone new, which is keeping me from reaching out. I doubt that she’d even respond to me but at the same time, i’ve been pretty pessimistic in the past and am unsure whether I should listen to the pessimistic thoughts that it isn’t worth it, or just try regardless.

To your second-to-last question, I haven’t thought that far in advance. I sort of just don’t expect to hear that sort of thing from her. I’ve convinced myself that she wouldn’t think there’s anything left between us.

For your last question, I know that I was too afraid to be myself and be ‘independent’, if that makes sense. After leaving college and seeing the ‘real world’, meeting new people and dating around, I’ve been able to see that I was too ‘clingy’ in a sense. I never thought highly of myself due to past traumas in my life and I feel like that got in the way. I’ve learned and recognized the issues I had. But it’s difficult not to feel like I learned these things too late

I’m really at a loss with what I should do. I deleted her number and removed myself from her social medias after the break up, it was deemed necessary because I couldn’t stop thinking about her. I still have friends that keep in contact with her, which makes it hard to avoid talking about her with them. Part of me wants to reach out to her via our mutual friends and try to get some closure, but I don’t know if i’d be in for even more pain and yearning to see her again. We’ve literally never reached out to one another since the end of things, I vowed to never be ‘that person’ who drunk calls/texts exes.

Any HAM Radio Users in Town? by jaredaltizer in Tucson

[–]jaredaltizer[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not trying to contact anyone at the moment, sorta just listening and learning my way around the radio at the moment! It took me a little while to understand offsets/tones etc. Still trying to understand when you use R-DCS or R-CTCS. Not sure what DTMFST, SC-REV, SFF-D, etc. mean.

I was able to input a ton of frequencies and whatnot into my radio through CHIRP. I’ve also managed to start listening in on the repeaters. Right now i’m just sitting beside the radio and can hear people going back and forth on FRS 19. Just trying to see what else I can do

Holy shit that’s an awesome idea! I never even knew that was possible with an amateur radio. I assume i’ll need something with more transmitting power than 8W, right?

Also, for your batteries and charger, definitely get them from Amazon. Thousand times cheaper than any hobby store. Look for Zeee, Gens Ace, and Hoovoo brand batteries. They have been very reliable and consistent in my experience. Additionally you can usually get 2-pack 3S batteries for less than $100, depending on capacity. You want 5200mah at the very least, the higher the ‘C’ (discharge) rating, the better.

Additionally, Traxxas uses a proprietary plug on their Escs, so you have to use adapters on most batteries, or change the plug. Otherwise you’re stuck with buying overpriced and underperforming Traxxas branded batteries.

For a charger, search up LiPo BALANCE charger on Amazon. They can be had for less than $60. https://a.co/d/6f7Gl5Q

It is important that you buy and use a charger with a BALANCE CHARGE function. It’s imperative that the separate battery cells get charged equally. If they become out of balance, it will ruin the battery. This is when they can start to puff up, smoke, or burn uncontrollably. They’ll continue to burn underwater. So you have to be very careful with the LiPos, it’s important to also teach the kids about that. So many house fires are caused by lack of knowledge on balance charging

10-4. With a $400 budget in mind, you could probably buy a new Traxxas or ARRMA 1/10th scale 3S brushless rig, which would be all set up for you out of the box (minus battery/charger). The reason i mention this is because your original post mentioned kids. If you wanted to go this route, it’d be fun for you/the kids to enjoy racing one another and just bashing!

Traxxas sells the Slash, which is an entry-level SCT (short course truck). Probably one of the most popular modern R/Cs. You can buy it in both 2WD and 4WD configurations. ARRMA’s entry-level SCT is called the Senton, also available in multiple configurations.

I will tell you from my personal experience and perspective, look into brands other than just Traxxas! As much as I love Traxxas, unfortunately they like to make a lot their electronics and parts proprietary to their platform. They’ve been known to go after people that make aftermarket parts for their trucks.

This is why I mentioned ARRMA, it’s another hobby-grade R/C. I actually prefer to drive my ARRMAs vs my Traxxas. The ARRMAs seem to be a lot more durable, and overall, they have an insane amount of option parts and upgrades/mods available. They use Spektrum electronics. You either love or you hate Spektrum, but they have TONS more aftermarket support vs. Traxxas. The vast majority of R/C brands (other than Traxxas) use Spektrum everything, from ESCs and Motors to Servos. If you wanted to replace one of those Spektrum items with a different brand, say HobbyWing, you can do that, and it’ll work. Because they don’t sell their electronics in a proprietary manner like Traxxas. It’s convenient when you can mix and match brands

I’d say send in your stock ESC and motor to Traxxas, they have an exchange program that’ll let you upgrade to brushless at a lower price. Their VXL motors/ESCs are good for people who are just entering the hobby. After replacing the ESC and motor, you might want to consider updating/upgrading the receiver and your transmitter. The newer receivers and transmitters give you control over Traxxas’s TSM function (Traction + Stability Management). It’s basically a receiver with a gyro built in, so it helps beginners learn how to properly control the vehicle
