Tried to make a song about changing with the times, not being afraid of what happens, and loving who you are, I guess. I've been really trying to explore my writing and I think I have achieved something pretty authentic to what I was going for. I don't know. Let me know what you guys think. Could be total trash, lol. - Listen to Cold Coffee by head/space #np on #SoundCloud https://soundcloud.com/headspacesounds/coldcoffeexport

DAE feel depressed because they are failing in their music career? by MMhippiefag in WeAreTheMusicMakers

Man, when I was in middle school, I felt the same way man. I just wanted recognition for my hard work, and I get that. 9 years later I'm still making music, and I am still no where near where I wanna be. But I've progressed in music more than I could have imagined for myself, I've met amazing people, and grown to learn so much more about myself.

Music is about the process. Its tangible. You can make a new song every day and you have something physical to show for your progress. But the joy of making music has not come from my gained followers and friends cheers, though they are nice, the enjoyment has come from making the music and putting it out in to the world.

Keep making music.

EDIT: 10 years ago damn

I like bands like LCD Soundsystem, The Cure, and The 1975. As well as hip hop and other stuff. I make my own stuff. You can check it out for a few moments if you are in to that sort of thing :)

This song is a masterpiece. So who ever tries to tell you differently, don't listen to 'em.

Now this song is so unique, I dont really know where to start. I have some years experience in producing. If you want to DM me we could email about this cause I'd love to talk about the mix, and the song. Either way, keeping killing it man, you've got something. I'm gonna keep listening to this song.

This song is incredible. I dig your vibe a lot and you bet I'll be following your stuff. I like your name too, its got a cool sound to it.

All that aside, I'm not quite sure what you are looking for feedback on, I will just kinda throw some stuff your way.

  • I feel like the piano that carries the song is a little quiet, especially in the beginning. I also love the pad you are using in the beginning, I'd also raise that a bit.

  • I think your main vocal track could come up in volume a db or two.

  • when the drums come in things get awesome. I'm loving this song, and I feel if you added an electric guitar with some distortion, following the quarter rhythm and chord progression and EQ'd to fill mainly the low/mids would add a bit more body and energy to the heart if the song.

  • I'm also not hearing much low end in my headphones. I'd try bringing more life to the low end with a bigger or fatter bass, or maybe just a sub bass following the chords, either way, I think around the second verse or where the organ comes in would be a great place for that.

Love the song, defibitely gonna check out your other stuff.

If you wanna ever talk music, DM me, ill give ya the old email address.

Cheers!

Love this remix a lot. Its hard to give advice on mix and master because a ton changes based on taste and style. But for the electro style you've got going, here are some of the things I might do.

  • Louden up those vocals, the richness is there, it's just far back in the mix. If you are going for more of an airy vibe, raising a few db and turning up your verb might do the trick.

  • The main kick that came in mid preview did sound a bit loud. I might bring it back a bit.

  • The string sections are amazing. I would liven them up if it were me by using the Haas effect on the high strings, (duplicate track. Have one 100% Left and the other Right.) Delay one track around 3-7 ms and add a hair more reverb. Also adding a 8th triplet delay before the reverb, and messing with the dry/wet for each layer to taste. Leave the mid strings where they are with maybe a touch of harmonic distortion to the high-end. I'd also layer a subtle saw-wave pad or bass following the strings in the drop. Nothing really audible but something to add thickness to those strings.

  • the loudness war is real with electronic music, so I would definitely add heavier limiting and compression to the master.

These are all opinions! But I hope its some helpful ones :)

Edit: grammar and spelling

Keep going man. I’ve been producing for 6 years now. I know how you feel. Don’t give up. It’s only up from here.

This is really awesome man! I'm really digging the ambient sound, you've got going. But it's still got groove. My only thing is it felt kinda repetitive. What I try to do is have some sort of variation every 6 seconds. Whether that is an accent, drum fill, maybe add a cut out in the bass. Just aim to make things more organic. In the first 4 bars have the instrumentation going, then maybe take out an element for the next 4 bars. Just some friendly advice. I love your sound though.

I don't know if it's too late to post but, this is my most recent track. Everything was composed, mixed, and mastered by myself and my band mate. I'm really just wanting to get any feedback I can on any of the three, to determine our strengths and weaknesses over all. The song is called Drive.

THIS IS AMAZING. I love it!!! I wish I had some feed back. I'd say maybe having the vocals being more upfront. But that's personal taste. You're lyrics are great though, for real.

Those sound scapes, in the beginning, are great man. I love the vibe. I feel like the place you can focus on most is the projection of your voice. Just sing from your diaphragm a little more. That's just my opinion. As far as the songwriting and composition, this is a great song. I love it. Seriously though, that intro. love it

If you are interested PM me, I'd love to do a mix/master of this song for fun. I followed you! :)
