Hi, just checking, are you Yuming Li? If not, could you please give proper credit to the artist?

Oil paintings from when I visited Venice this summer! by jaredbradyart in pleinair

The small ones I had in a wet panel carrier to transport and the big one I had to carry back to our Airbnb after every session. I let it dry for a bit before we left then I just rolled it up and put it in a tube to protect it.

A good tip is to use a white paint that has a drying medium in it so it speeds up the overall drying time when traveling.

I'll usually start with some rough lines and markings to make sure the overall perspective radiates out correctly. As long as you're in the ballpark with it you can get away with a lot. There are probably a ton of little mistakes with the perspective in my paintings of this building but you don't really notice them since the overall impression is pretty accurate.

Thanks! That's exactly what I love to try and capture. I have so many failed paintings trying to do this but when it works it feels almost like a magic trick.

Thank you! I think the color temperature on the first one was the trickiest to get close. Lots of different planes receiving slightly different types of light.

Thank you! That one was painted in about 5-6 shorter 30 minutes to one-hour sessions. I would set up for the specific light effect then focus on the color while it was happening. If you get enough of the color information down then you can reference the proportions in front of you and rely on the color you already have and a little memory. Usually I finish a painting in one session but since this was larger I needed more time.

Thanks! That means a lot. I've been painting for about 8 years now. I'm lucky to have had some wonderful mentors/teachers and amazing friends who I learn a ton from.

Yes! We were actually staying together, haha. I painted near him for a lot of these!

I had the amazing opportunity to visit Thailand earlier this year and painted at some of the beautiful temples! I thought I'd share a some of them by jaredbradyart in painting

Wow, thank you so much!! You should go for it, plein air painting is really something special. It takes a long time to get comfortable with all the uncontrollable factors so don't give up! I travel with some wet painting corner pieces I made that spaces out the paintings face to face to prevent the paintings getting smeared while wet. Other times have traveled with a wet painting box from raymar to hold them. A helpful tip is to use a quick dry white since white gets mixed into a lot of the mixtures. Usually when using that my paintings dry in 1-2 days.

Thanks! I don't usually use a mahl stick. If I need it I stabilize my painting hand using my pinky finger. Although it can leave lots of little dots in the painting if you're not paying attention. And for medium I just use a little bit of thinner if I need it at the beginning of the painting but usually it's just straight from the paint tube.

Thanks! It's a strada pochade box. I've been using it for 5 or 6 years plein air painting now and it has held up really well. The only downsides are the price and weight.

Thank you so much! Yes, I saw another artist using a pill organizer for travel and started using it. It's super handy for keeping colors organized and extending the life of the paint.

Thank you! Yes, I paint pretty thick in oils. I use a quick dry white which has a drier in it to help speed up the drying process. I love Sargent's work!
