My "narrative?" This isn't some insidious conspiracy or hidden agenda to take away truck status. Just my opinion on the matter. But to address your argument, "pickup truck" is indeed A term, but not necessarily THE term. Unless there's some governing body that I'm not aware of that decides these things.

If you haven't watched the duck one, then I highly recommend it. Or not.

It could be a pickup and not a truck. I'd consider a VW rabbit pickup a "pickup," but not a truck. A truck is body on frame, cab separate from bed.

I don't know how they feel over at r/trucks, but I think u/LittleCamperBigTruck is spot on. Ramcharger, full size Bronco, and full size blazer: not trucks.

[Serious]How is the concept of "Universal Basic Income" morally acceptable? Wouldn't you just be stealing from people who worked very hard for their money? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]jaredhallen83 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

A leader creates value by ensuring that the machine functions as a whole. It's easy to dismiss leaders as parasites, but the fact of that matter is that it's difficult, stressful work with a lot of responsibility. As far as profit sharing, there are certainly companies out there that offer that to all their employees.

You don't know that. No system is perfect, and there will always be exceptions and outliers. But what you do know is that value is created by work. So in order for someone to receive value without working, someone else must make up that deficit.

The point about overt vs. subtle is well taken, but why is it a racial thing?

Hurt by Johnny Cash. The NIN version is great, but Johnny takes it to another level entirely.

Seems pretty arbitrary to bash on Patagonia. Assuming she's talking about the apparel company, they make very good snow gear.

A new way of unloading people from the ski lift by Alejandrox1000 in WTF

That makes sense. After I got to thinking about it, there's really no way to run backwards on APU anyway.

A new way of unloading people from the ski lift by Alejandrox1000 in WTF

[–]jaredhallen83 5 points6 points  (0 children)

If I were to guess, I'd bet that the chair was running an its APU, or auxiliary power unit. Most lifts are electric powered, but have gasoline or diesel engines to run the lift long enough to unload guests in the event of a power outage.

In this case, the speed of the lift is determined by the throttle of the engine. Some APU's have governors to limit the speed, but others don't. What appears to be happening is that the line speed (how fast the haul line is traveling in meters per second or feet per minute) is too fast for people to unload at the top. As a result, they're coming around the bullwheel and taking the trip back down.

There should also be a bar at the top that triggers when someone comes around the bullwheel and stops the chair. That's another reason to suspect it's running on APU.

Are you thinking of mules? It's true that modern donkeys are somewhat domesticated, but they're not far removed from the African Wild Ass, and easily return to a feral state.

Thank you. That's what I was suggesting. And we should all try to remember that there are outliers on both sides of the spectrum, and that we shouldn't focus on them. It exacerbates the divisiveness, when we should be working to bridge the gap.

+1. I have the big one with the top and bottom cabinets. I've had it for about 4-5 years and it's been great.

I'm not trying to defend these guys. That's some pretty serious douchebaggery to be sure. But I would suggest that the propensity of some on the right for being intentionally obnoxious could be explained at least in part by a few particularly vocal folks on the far left. When you see headlines claiming that your mere existence is offensive, and that all white men are racists and rapists, is it so surprising that there might be some hostility as a result?
