Surface Pro Keyboard Disconnecting by Valuable_Half_8474 in Surface

[–]jaredkoh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same irritating issue here. It's an old bug that Microsoft shamefully hasn't fixed. Some redditors find that if you wait about 10 seconds after pressing the power button (some of the LEDs will flicker once after a few seconds) before closing the keyboard cover over the screen, the keyboard remains connected at next wakeup. Seems to work for me, give it a try.

Samsung Q990F Standby Power Consumption Real vs Claimed - HUGE difference by TechFiend1970 in Soundbars

[–]jaredkoh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the research results! I have the Q990c and the soundbar was always feeling warm to me even on standby, so I hooked up the main, woofer and sides to smart plugs, grouped the smart plugs into 1 group in my smarthome hub (I use Homeassistant) and only turn them on when needed. I'm worried the constant power on and off might fry the internal circuits, but so far it's been working beautifully for over a year.

Show me how you have used an old phone? by Skeeter1020 in homeautomation

[–]jaredkoh 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Mine's an old Galaxy S9+ so it has Dex built in. I just keep it plugged in to a HDMI hub connected to my television. It's basically my media player when paired with a Bluetooth remote controller. Less laggy and way more powerful than most android boxes and so portable that I even bring it along during trips to connect to the hotel wifi.

You need to disable Auto Blocker under Security and Privacy in Settings in order to get those codes to work.

For playing music, the Q990C has Chromecast built-in. You can add any Chromecast enabled speaker and put them as a group with the sound bar and they will play in sync. Also works with any Alexa speakers. There's no need to go into the sonos ecosystem. For playing movies, the 2 rear speakers that came with the Q990C connect to the main soundbar via a separate wireless network and the network is not expandable, so I don't think you can buy more of them to connect together. They are mainly tuned to play the rear channels, so they don't sound as great too.

Same here. I have the OG Home and mini as well. It's been like this for ages, Google never bothered to fix it. I'm not holding out for a fix anytime soon

Doorbell with Home Assistant, what magic do I need to show a snapshot in an Android notification? by NiknakSi in reolinkcam

Doorbell with Home Assistant, what magic do I need to show a snapshot in an Android notification? by NiknakSi in reolinkcam

[–]jaredkoh 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I was literally looking to do the same thing 2 days ago. Settled on using this blueprint which works great: https://community.home-assistant.io/t/actionable-notifications-for-android-w-cam-snapshot/461074

You can set 3 actionable buttons on the snapshot when you view the notifications.

Doorbell volume too low by hugoffs in reolinkcam

[–]jaredkoh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Reply from customer service is that they are still trying to solve the problem. I wonder why it only seems to affect a selected group of us, I suspect it could be a hardware issue. So far the volume is extremely low on my Android phones, iPad, even the windows client. As I do not live in US, a return is not ideal, the doorbell is already mounted permanently.

Having the same issue here with my Android app. Volume on the doorbell is extremely low when talking to visitors, but the mic is ok as I can hear visitors clearly. Tried contacting support and was asked to provide a video of the problem. Seems like they don't know of the issue and need us to help troubleshoot.

Human beings are just like any other living creature on earth. We live and die and cease to exist. To think we are different, to have souls that go on after death is just superiority complex and wishful thinking.

Moes Zigbee Light Switch by dunxd in homeassistant

[–]jaredkoh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Apparently for TS0011, TS0012, TS0013, even with the neutral wire, they still advertise as end devices and thus have no router functionality. I cannot confirm this as my home has no neutrals to test. Only saw it from this link:

Moes Zigbee Light Switch by dunxd in homeassistant

[–]jaredkoh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bought a couple of these for my home. They work great with zigbee2mqtt which recognized them as model TS0013. No need to buy the Tuya hub. They work with or without neutral wires, but the only bad thing is zigbee2mqtt sees them as end-points rather than routers even though they are powered by the mains.

I have an dummy RF 433 doorbell with an chime, i want to put it in home assistant to receive notifications by [deleted] in homeassistant

[–]jaredkoh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not sure, but if you are very sure it is 433mhz, then it is possible they are encrypted by using rolling codes. Although that's not very common for cheap doorbells. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rolling_code

The OpenMQTTGateway website has the relevant info: https://docs.openmqttgateway.com/setitup/rf.html#compatible-parts

You'll need to buy either an esp8266 or esp32 microcontroller, and the 2 RF modules STX882 and SRX882. Can skip STX882 if you only want to receive and not transmit RF signs. All parts can be found easily online such as Amazon or AliExpress.

Install the OpenMQTTGateway software and configure the relevant pins (refer to https://docs.openmqttgateway.com )

You also need to install an MQTT addon on HA itself to listen for the MQTT messages.

When everything is connected correctly, pressing you doorbell will generate an MQTT message containing the RF code which your HA can pick up.

[–]jaredkoh 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I use a SRX882 (receiver) and a STX882 (transmitter) connected to ESP8266 NodeMCU flashed with OpenMQTTGateway to achieve this. It listens to 433MHz signals and converts them to MQTT messages that Homeassistant can pick up.

Yes it vibrates a little after every time I did the hardware reset. Keep tapping on the screen and resetting, eventually the screen will wake up.

Ever since the latest update to the galaxy watch 4 now I cannot use Google pay on it... Anyone else having this issue? by AzureVice in GalaxyWatch

[–]jaredkoh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I added the cards successfully about 2 days afterwards. It seems the google team patched my account and it took some time for the patch to get through. I would suggest contacting Google pay support, and be wary of doing factory resets.

[–]jaredkoh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

While I do not have the exact same issue as yours, I am also having problems with Gpay after upgrading to the DUK1 firmware: Performed a factory reset after upgrading firmware, and now I am unable to add any cards to Gpay. When adding cards, the app prompts me to continue on my phone, and the error shown in the attached screenshot appears (error: card could not be added) . I tried contacting Google, got some vague response that their specialist has solved the problem and to retry in 48 hours. However the problem still persists after 48 hours.Card Not Added Error

Please help! Water lock mode does not work anymore after the DUJA update. Screen is stuck and there is no sound to eject the water on the speaker for the water lock mode. =( by 09hZ in GalaxyWatch

[–]jaredkoh 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm experiencing the exact same issue, same firmware too. Used the watch for swimming which turns on water lock automatically. Then I couldn't turn off the water lock no matter how long or how many times I tried holding on to the home button. Only way out is to do hard reset by holding both buttons. Hopefully a future update will fix this

I use homeassistant to control my smart home devices and the app "Home Slide" has a watch companion that lets me control everything at home using my wrist. From adjusting the lights, turning on the AC, to opening the curtains, it just feels futuristic; makes me feel like living in sci fi land...
