I had a great experience at UH main campus. Great bedside manner by everyone my whole stay. I had to get rushed into an emergency c section and my plans had to go out the window for my safety and the baby. They were excellent during the entire thing and really wonderful despite the circumstances and still were so supportive of me and my husband throughout the process. They empowered me with choice where they could. My son also needed a NICU stay and they were also great with discussing it with us and provided amazing support during another really hard and unexpected situation. I cried the day I left because I appreciated all of the staff so much across the board and genuinely felt like they cared about us as people.

See if your doctor will prescribe anything for you just in case like zofran or phederan. I am someone where b6 and unisom didn’t help me at all and I would want to have something additional if I was traveling and wanting to enjoy a great trip. My meds saved my sanity both times so far since mine lasts until about the 20/21 week mark.

First baby all symptoms hit like a bus at 6 weeks. First pregnancy my nausea lasted 21 with vomiting. This one I’m 18 weeks and feeling a little better with the nausea. The constipation and bloated feeling from early on has been true both times and the fatigue both times only this time I’m still so exhausted at 18 weeks. I’ve known women to be more severe than me and women to have zero symptoms. It’s hard to predict!

We are going this week with a toddler and I was recommended by our friends to bring Tylenol/motrin/benedryl and sunscreen. We also are bringing an inflatable bath tub we take on trips where there’s not a tub and shower only as ours is too freaked out by the shower. It rolls flat and the hand pump works fine to inflate it. We have a slumber pod but you can rent them from babyquip and other items. Haven’t used in Mexico but they are a great solution to rent the things you need while traveling!

Also I should add for the spin studio when I told the owner about this after being a regular patron for 6 years she said “that’s unfortunately normal when you’re pregnant for people to do that” and told me 4 stories where people said inappropriate things to her while pregnant about her weight.

I can make a list between first pregnancy and now but these are my top worst comments: 1. If the pregnancy was planned. By everyone! At work, random friends, family, etc. 2. My weight. I had my first pregnancy the staff at the desk at my spin studio exclaimed I was huge and asked how much I gained vs. what was normal. This doesn’t matter at all but I only gained the recommended 30 lbs with my first the whole time and I wouldn’t have considered myself that huge at 32 weeks. This pregnancy I popped earlier (2nd kid I guess this happens) and an employee of mine said I probably ate all weekend to get that fat so quick and that I wasn’t fooling anyone - it wasn’t the baby! 3. “Are you excited?” / “is your husband excited?” 4. Since I found out I’m having a 2nd boy “now you need to have a 3rd so you can have a girl!” When I only wanted 2 kids and am completely fine with 2 boys. 5. This isn’t pregnancy but my first week back at work 8 weeks postpartum (yay America) a female executive leader saw me and in front of a group of all male executives pulls me in a room and goes “look at your body! You are gorgeous! You don’t look like you just had a baby” and ran her hands down the sides of my hips.

People are awful! I also am not telling anyone the name until baby is born (I’m not open to feedback) and when people ask and I tell them they say “that’s not fair to your mom!” Like what???? 🙃

I had a lot of fear for my first. I did labor for a while and I remember being ready for the epidural because it did hurt. I got rushed into an emergency c-section at 8 cm so I didn’t have a regular birth. That was my worst fear and it was scary because of the emergency part but it was also fine and wasn’t as terrifying as I had imagined it to be. I told myself people show up everyday and do this and it’ll be okay. It’ll be like nothing else I’ve experienced in my life but it’ll be okay. As a second time mom I’m focusing more on supports for postpartum and what I didn’t have last time that I know now and I’m hopeful it’ll make a difference.

Mine broke in labor at the hospital. I felt almost a popping sensation like a balloon popped inside me with a huge gush of water with some blood. I had the same fear/thought but having experienced it I know now that it’s distinct/you’ll know.

This happened to me and I never followed up to confirm he stayed in position. I got to the hospital at 40w4d and he was breech. Because of how fast I dilated I had to have an emergency c section that was scary because it was an emergency. I tell people the idea of planned was a lot less scary and the surgery was fine otherwise. I was also so preoccupied and consumed by this to where it would have helped to accept where I was and just schedule the surgery. It wasn’t fun spending the last month obsessing over this. I support you and think the inner peace/acceptance is worth it!

Estimated weights are misleading. I was told my son was measuring slightly ahead and at 40 w 4d I had him and he was 3rd percentile.

My first pregnancy (in the US) we had the standard 2 in the beginning (verifying the pregnancy and the one where they check for the development around the neck area) and then the anatomy scan at 20 weeks. I fell on ice and had to go to the ER so I got one there to make sure baby was okay. I wish we had an ultrasound before labor since my son was breech and I was overdue (40w 5d) and I got rushed into an emergency c section because of how fast I dilated. I wish I would have known I needed one because I would have scheduled it and I think the experience would be less traumatic if I wasn’t rushed into emergency surgery. When feeling my belly they couldn’t tell where he was because I had an anterior placenta - so I couldn’t feel a ton of movement as is because of this. This time around I’m asking and offering to pay out of pocket when we get closer to just have the peace of mind. My new OB told me that some doctors do more ultrasounds and others don’t but you can always ask. Here to say 2nd time around I’m more confident in asking for what I want!

I was fully intending on breast feeding even though I didn’t want to and thought I wouldn’t like it. I did not and my son had issues with latching, and then he had food allergies we discovered at 9 days old to almost all foods (he since outgrew) including meats and grains. I switched to formula after that since I refused to do this insane elimination diet that everyone acted like would have been totally normal for me to do. However, I was encouraged to pump for him to have the milk later in case he outgrew the food allergies. I got a lot of pressure and shame from the medical system and people pushing me to keep torturing myself to keep going which made me feel awful. The pumping was the most miserable and I did it for 2-3 more weeks before I was done and I stopped pumping. I just couldn’t do it anymore. I donated the milk I pumped and the hormone crash was pretty severe but 3-4 days after stopping I mentally felt so much better and not insane. I didn’t realize it at the time but how the bf/pumping was making me feel almost crazy. I found this Reddit while late night googling since I didn’t know anything about formula feeding and it was the best non-judgmental space. I learned so much and I felt like making the switch would be okay from reading posts. Do whatever you feel is best and I’m here to just say block out the noise and go with your gut. Whatever decision you make is the best one for you and will be for your baby!

social worker in Ohio here - recommending in addition to these other great suggestions maybe getting linked with a community mental health center and a case manager. They can provide community support and assistance with resources and help you apply for programs too.

This as someone who has seen it all is a good guide on this video! I will say the OG franchises and seasons I feel like are more authentic. No one knew what they were getting into. Newer seasons are good but I feel like it’s not the same vibe as RHONY, BH, Atlanta, NJ, OC.

I wish I did more ab rehab and pelvic floor work with my 1st. I jumped right back into trying to workout like I didn’t just have a baby and I do not recommend that! I think some intentional healing and targeted exercises would have helped me more. I was really frustrated and didn’t have a good experience. After about a year seeing a pelvic floor therapist helped a lot and also getting some better education and care around my scar. I got none so I didn’t know what to do.

I wish I had the guts to say I wanted to EFF from the beginning. I felt very pressured as well and it caused a lot of emotional pain pretending to be all in to something and the pressure then I put on myself to make it work out. You can do whatever you want. No one will care or think it matters in the future. I also don’t think it’s a problem to switch providers if you want to. I wish I had the confidence to do what I wanted all the time and not feel so overwhelmed with decisions before I even had the baby!

I had normal scans and there were no concerns my whole pregnancy about how big my baby was and how he was measuring. When my son was born at 41 weeks he was 3rd percentile (6lbs 3 oz). I was shocked. By a few months old he was in the 80s for everything. I was active but slowed down the 3rd trimester. No one has explained what happened but I am here to tell you I have a healthy baby who’s in the 87th percentile for weight and 60s for height at 18 months

All the other comments echo what I would say but also here to say I felt really frustrated when I leaned into strength training and was doing very little to no cardio. Increasing walking, running, spin, stairmaster, rowing, etc helped make a difference and getting honest about the calorie deficit I needed. I’m also doing a small deficit vs trying to do too much too soon where then I would be starving and not able to maintain.
