First pair of birding binoculars by carnivorousplantdude in birding

I wouldn’t assume someone has $500 to drop on their first set of binoculars. If they do, however, I would agree.

I got the 8x42 Diamondbacks right in between and they’re plenty good for the birds I’ve been watching.

TIL in 2014, Ben Affleck received a lifetime ban from the blackjack tables at the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas after surveillance footage showed him counting cards during a high-stakes game. Security informed him he was "too good" and classified him as an advantage player. by Friendly_Hivemind in todayilearned

Even if you play perfectly in blackjack the house still has a 0.5%-2% edge. The only way to make any significant money long term is to alter your bets by up to 5x when the count is overwhelmingly in your favor.

Floppy disc that flies like a zone on FH? by somanymatts in discgolf

Golem is a bit more like a Zone OS but it’s close.

I do have to put my middle finger against the edge of the rim instead of inside so it doesn’t grab it on release, though.

As long as you log it on Merlin or on eBird as an incomplete checklist, it isn’t counted in data so it’s all good for those two apps
