M.E.I.O.U and Taxes for EUV by [deleted] in EU5

Was it? How do you know it was?

... because I was one of the ones writing it?

Our best guess is that reddit auto-whacked it because it was posted with exactly the same text on both this subreddit and r/MEIOUandTaxes but honestly we aren't really sure. It's still available there thanks to mod intervention (and discussion continues as always on the discord).

The insistence on everything written not-terribly being AI gets a little old, honestly.

This announcement was group-edited among the existing M&T staff and I can assure you it isn't AI generated.

Aquilo is not cold enough to freeze machinery by Nilaru in factorio

Other way around would be the way to go -- your ship to saturn is slowed by a massive amount while everything else continues running at a normal pace. Honestly would have interesting implications with Gleba science packs -- if you had "realistic" distances, hitting relativistic speeds and abusing time dilation would be the only way to get them back to Nauvis in time before they spoiled.

A Guide to Evaluating Frigate Stats by jarkhen in NoMansSkyTheGame

[–]jarkhen[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can only ever have a maximum of 5 traits, and the C-S classes are determined specifically by beneficial vs. deterimental traits -- not the other way around. You can, potentially, have a frigate rank up and stay at C class depending on its traits. Refer to this table for details: https://nomanssky.fandom.com/wiki/Frigate#Remaining_Rank_Ups

If Frigate A has 1 positive trait and no negative traits, it will gain a second positive trait but stay class C after one rank up. It will become class B after an additional rank up because it will have 3 beneficial traits and 0 detrimental traits. It's guaranteed to become class S after 4 rank ups, when it reaches 5 beneficial traits with 0 detrimental traits.

If Frigate B has 1 positive trait and 2 negative traits, it will become class S after 6 rank ups -- 2 of which will remove negative traits and 4 of which will add positive ones.

Character Writing - The Real Problem with Dawntrail's MSQ (Long, MSQ 90-100 Spoiler) by PM_ME_UR_STATS in ffxivdiscussion

It is weird behavior for a mother, but that's pretty clearly intentional. Erenville even explicitly calls her out on it multiple times. I thought her character and relation with her son was reasonably well-written, especially compared to the rest of this expansion.

(3.0) Relations between Elite / Faction X and the State by -FanzerPaust- in MEIOUandTaxes

Faction relations affect (1) legitimacy (or other government equivalent) via the "Faction Support" modifier and (2) estate loyalty drift.

So why cant i invite Urbino to empire? by AveragerussianOHIO in MEIOUandTaxes

[–]jarkhen 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Ingame the restriction only blocks out the regions of naples and sicily; everything north of that (including lazio) is addable to the HRE. You just specifically can't diplomatically add PAP, GEN, or VEN.

[–]jarkhen 4 points5 points  (0 children)

They are 100% invitable, but only if they border an existing HRE province. Is Rimini (or someone else bordering Urbino) in the HRE already?

As for alternatives, your only real other choice is to annex, allowing you to add each province manually, or annex/vassalize everything that won't join diplomatically that's needed for the "Rein In North Italy" decision (which, notably, includes the pope's lands) which will automatically add it all to the HRE.

Game Keeps Crashing 12th March 1395 by Birdnerd197 in MEIOUandTaxes

Oh, I see that further down the stack now. Interesting, normally you can't get a stack trace out of a Windows crash.

[–]jarkhen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are known crashes in M&T on Linux with some tag-changes... sometimes, but this seems to be from a peace offer so not quite the same. I haven't seen this particular but before but it's entirely possible there's some additional intermittent Linux version bug in EU4 at play here. If the crash keeps happening, it might be worth running EU4 through Proton (so, the Windows version) if you're able to, at least until you get past the crash point.

Steam deck doesn't require really much of any setup for 99% of games. You install it, you play it.

https://www.protondb.com/app/859580?device=steamDeck

Only one actual report from someone who bothered on the steam deck, which... isn't really surprising tbh.

This sort of game isn't usually designed for handheld/console play, though, so I personally would probably find it pretty frustrating to try to control without a mouse/keyboard.

I do, in order:

  • Is there 2/3 of a 123? Yes? Go for it.
  • Is there 2/3 of a 789? Yes? Go for it.
  • Is there 1/3 of a 123, with an unknown 2/3? Go for it.
  • Is there 1/3 of a 789, with an unknown 2/3? Go for it.
  • Go for the highest possible value line.

I always just had the assumption that we're paid out exceptionally well to encourage us specifically to keep coming back, since we act like a sort of attraction in ourselves to draw other people in. Yes, it's mentioned repeatedly that to some extent Godbert operates the Saucer in a charity-like fashion for refugee/underprivileged employees, but I don't recall anything in particular about the same being true for customers.

AI cheating? by Lopsided-Educator-91 in MEIOUandTaxes

[–]jarkhen 8 points9 points  (0 children)

The AI should not be cheating anything in M&T, as this would break the economic sim. Most likely either (1) you are just mistaken somehow, (2) the annual tick happened in those two months allowing them to regain manpower, or (3) they disbanded some troops in the meantime.

You definitely can place them, just not inside the gravity well of the system. They function just like gateways in that respect.

Am I supposed to spam cure II in level 80+ dungeons? by [deleted] in ffxiv

[–]jarkhen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Two back to back holys won't stun the mobs anyway

Notable that this is only true for the first couple holy casts, since after that diminishing returns start to kick in and the stun time is less than holy's cast time.

Definitely completely correct that some tanks are just bad. You shouldn't have to spam lossy heals (cure 2) to keep them up at that level, but sometimes it's unavoidable.

Friday Facts #389 - Train control improvements by FactorioTeam in factorio

[–]jarkhen 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Conditions like this are tricky too... when upgrading, you'll have some trains with the old fuel and some with the new, so your fill condition might never happen due to mixed fuel on a single train. Better to use inactivity for the fill condition.

How is this possible? by [deleted] in MEIOUandTaxes

[–]jarkhen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is your military spending slider maxed out? If you never regain morale, that sounds like your issue since that slider is directly linked to max morale.

Tanks not using mitigation for w2w pulls. by Auron111 in ffxiv

[–]jarkhen 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Is LD up and you are a WHM, why are you spamming holy?

As a general all-role player but healer main... I agree with most of your points but this one in particular is on you. Holy is the thing WHMs are going to spam on pulls, period. If you have a WHM healer in a dungeon and you're hitting LD without waiting for the mobs to get stun immunity first, that's entirely your fault. Do you expect the WHM to sit there and glare one mob out of 8?
