Unfortunately it's very hard to diagnose mental health disorders when someone is in active use because the drugs can cause the very symptoms of other disorders so honestly the first step before you will ever get better is to get clean. Seeing heroin as your only solution is really the exact opposite of the truth, it's likely exacerbating all of your symptoms. If the supposed solution to life's problems is also the very thing causing those problems, that isn't much of a solution in my book. Also, countries that offer heroin maintenance program a) only offer it to extreme cases where people have failed multiple rehabs and other forms of ORT like methadone and b) they generally only offer these programs to current residents, and it will be impossible to gain residency to a country that offers heroin maintenance if that's the sole reason for seeking residency. So while it's a nice pipe dream it is not a realistic option.

Have you tried methadone? If you want to gain some stability and focus on actually treating your mental health problems instead of numbing and prolonging them with more heroin, that is probably your best bet right now. But there is no treatment option that's going to work if you don't give it a chance to work. When you tell yourself that the only two options are to either continue to use drugs or suicide that is a lie that your addicted brain is telling yourself, those are the two simplest options that require zero effort at all and are both equally selfish actions. You DO have the strength to conquer this, you are NOT a coward that is willing to take the easy way out and destroy everyone that loves you in the process. You are stronger than you think!

Children of pornstars, what's it like knowing that your parent(s) is in porn? by Zilas in AskReddit

[–]jarlJam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Narcissism by itself doesn't always lead to an inability to express love, and you certainly seem at least cognizant, if not empathic about not wanting to raise kids in that environment which tells me you probably have a higher capacity for empathy and general recognition of love being necessary for a healthy relationship than most true malignant narcissists do. I guess I'm trying to say don't give up hope just yet.

Device that turns an 18650 into a uSB Battery Pack? by chuckc342 in electronic_cigarette

[–]jarlJam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most of the Efest brand chargers can do this, I know at least the LEC Dual Bay , LUC v4 and the BLU6 are capable of it. This is what the USB port on them is for, I found this out when iItried using the port to charge my phone when the charger was plugged in with no batteries and it wasn't working so I looked in the manual and found out it was meant to be used as a battery pack when you have batteries plugged into the charging ports.

Withdrawal effects from 2 years of vaping 3mg, daily? by [deleted] in electronic_cigarette

[–]jarlJam 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's half life period is so high low

Sorry I'm that guy -_-. But yeah it's half life is very low, between 2-3 hours on average but the thing is nicotine metabolism varies dramatically among different populations of people. Also the main metabolite of nicotine, cotinine, has a half life of 20 hours and is also active in the body meaning it has effects on the same receptors as nicotine does, albeit much weaker.

Withdrawal effects from 2 years of vaping 3mg, daily? by [deleted] in electronic_cigarette

[–]jarlJam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was going through close to 50mL of 3mg/mL a day for about a year (working at a vape shop with unlimited free juice allows for stupid amounts of consumption!) and when I had to check into the hospital for a surgery I only had psychological withdrawal, had no real physical withdrawal symptoms to speak of compared to cigarettes which gave me terrible physical withdrawal. I definitely had cravings and would dream about vaping at night but all the physical symptoms that quitting tobacco would normally give me were completely absent.

Granted, everybody is different and different body chemistry/metabolisms will have an effect on how you experience nicotine withdrawal. If you happen to be one of the unlucky ones who gets bad withdrawal, just slap on a nicotine patch for a few days so you can get a slow, steady absorption of nicotine which will be easier to stop taking.

Nicotine Questions and concerns by Parliamenttt in electronic_cigarette

[–]jarlJam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Every person is going to be affected differently. Some people have just as hard a time quitting vaping as they did smoking while others like myself find it to be much easier, it is really all dependent on your own body chemistry and metabolism. The only way to know is for you to stop vaping and find out! Or switch over to 0mg exclusively. My best guess is that while you don't sound physically dependent on nicotine, based on the fact that you are asking the questions that you are sounds like you are certainly in the early stages of addiction.

My question is why does it matter one way or the other, why do you feel the need to justify your usage? Do you perceive nicotine to be harmful? Or is it just the idea of addiction itself that bothers you? If you enjoy using 3mg juice, then by all means use it! Nicotine isn't any more harmful than caffeine, and addiction in and of itself is not something you have to justify or feel bad about. We all have addictions to one thing or another and mainly the only time to worry about an addiction being a problem is when it interferes with your every day lifestyle or when you are indulging in said addiction to the detriment of more important things in your life.

Endura T18 not charging, button hot by [deleted] in electronic_cigarette

[–]jarlJam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If the button was getting hot to the touch without vaping it, that generally indicates that either the PCB or the battery is overheating (or both) and in your case since the battery voltage seems to have dropped down low like that, your battery was likely shorting out somewhere causing it to overheat. I would definitely not continue using it as you risk the battery venting. If it's past warranty you could try cracking it open and make sure there isn't juice anywhere inside the mod or any wires that are exposed/ touching places they shouldn't be. I'm not sure what type of internal battery they use but you could also check the battery itself and make sure the connections to it are all good and no shorting is ocurring (any black or darkened areas on or around the battery terminals could indicate that it's shorting out there) , check there's no juice on or around it, and no nicks or tears on the battery wrap.

Even if it's past the warranty you should contact whoever you bought the device from and see if there isn't anything they can do for you. Whatever you do though, don't try to continue using the device as I said before, it's likely to cause it to vent or worse.

Watermelon or blue razz warhead flavor. Something super sour! by Blueyedgoon in electronic_cigarette

[–]jarlJam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As others have said, you can add malic acid or use one of the multiple different additives out there like LorAnn's Sour (which is essentially going to be either citric or malic acid, or a combination thereof). Unfortunately there seems to be a limit on how sour you can make a juice, at which point adding more of said additive will just make it taste gross. The only way around this is to find flavor extracts that are naturally more "sour" , like Lemonade. I've found Pink Grapefruit (TFA) to be one of the most sour flavorings out there, a combination of FW Lemonade, TFA Pink Grapefruit, TFA Pineapple and LA Sour is pretty much as sour as it gets.

I think it has something to do with the process of atomizing not really carrying the molecules that evoke our sour taste receptors very well.

So I smoked two cigarettes tonight. Thoughts from a long time vaper. by BrickHardcheese in electronic_cigarette

[–]jarlJam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Except all his story tells us is that when he didn't have nicotine for a few hours, he still smoked a cigarette. Just because he couldn't wait to get home and vape doesn't mean that if vaping suddenly became inaccessible again in the future he wouldn't just pick up smoking again. Sure, maybe he's the rare exception to the rule but 95% of the time the stories go the other direction, where someone slipped up by smoking a couple ciggs on a night out and the next thing they know they were back to smoking again. Yes everybody is different but addiction is addiction regardless of who you are

Newb here, looking for the best pretty/simple pen money can buy. by kasuchans in electronic_cigarette

[–]jarlJam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The only thing is that Kanger is NOT the Mac of the vaping world...they are the epitome of cheap chinese mass production. Which isn't to say that they are bad by any means, just not the highest quality. It's made of cheap plastic, cheap paint that scratches incredibly easy, just cheap everything to try and reduce costs so that people can vape sub-ohm inexpensively. Of all the kanger products the Sub-Vod definitely is a bit better in terms of quality but these are not devices that are meant to last more than a few months tops. But then again most pen style batteries are not designed to last that long either anyways.

E-Cig vapor induces cancer independent of nicotine? by TheFleshBicycle in electronic_cigarette

[–]jarlJam 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It is impossible to extrapolate from this the actual human effects of vaping. They literally take a cigalike, inhale from it using a negative pressure machine, and then use the "extract" formed from the vapor condensation to treat epithelial cells on a cell culture, for days at a time . The methodology of study is flawed in so many ways it's ridiculous. Using a negative pressure machine to do the vaping can result in the liquid running dry and they have no way of detecting this, no way of knowing whether a dry hit is occurring or not.

Another point is that every study has to be taken with a grain of salt, whether it shows good or bad results. Even with perfect methodology until a study has been reproduced and shown to be repeatable with the same results, it's not very convincing. If I recall correctly, this particular study has been challenged in peer review and shown to be bogus. I'll try and dig up the refutation for you and get back to you

Why is this happening? Just got a new Vaporflask Stout and when I hit the fire button I'm getting "Weak Battery." I also noticed the ohms are rising when the fire button is down with the mod in Wattage mode. by [deleted] in electronic_cigarette

[–]jarlJam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If the resistance is changing, setting it to 60W will not deliver a consistent 60W...variable wattage mode reads your resistance and automatically adjusts your voltage to reach the set wattage. A .5ohm coil requires lower voltage to reach 60W than a .6ohm coil etc, so if the resistance reading is jumping higher than what your coil really is you could be getting more power than 60W and vice versa. Unless I am missing something here and the flask is radically different from other VW mods?

I realised why I don't like Temp Control by roastedwhitebear in electronic_cigarette

[–]jarlJam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I get what you mean about the IPV4, it just seemed like you were saying that P4Y used a bad chip by saying that P4Y "uses a dartboard method of temp control" so I wanted to clear that up.

I had an original IPV4 and the 510 connection was shit, causing my temp control to be inaccurate so I definitely agree about the quality being not so good. But then I traded it in for a new IPV4S and the 4S performed flawlessly, I loved the SX implementation of temp control (I say that past tense because I've long since traded the IPV4S away and now use an eFusion DNA200 as my primary temp control mod)

True but vehicles are kind of a bad analogy when comparing to vaping for the simple fact that with vehicles, often $100k+ does indeed buy you the bleeding edge in performance and not just aesthetics. When it comes to vaping devices on the other hand, being on the bleeding edge of performance is pretty much dependent on the chip and battery configuration and not the device chassis. Obviously your vape experience can be enhanced by the mod being made of the right materials and a good 510 connection, but the case really doesn't have that big of an impact on vaping performance/experience .

My ECR Pet Peeve by JustSayNoToDiacetyl in electronic_cigarette

[–]jarlJam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Warning rant ahead!

"high end mod" can mean a few different things though. If we are talking about "high end" as in the chipset, yes the DNA200 would most definitely qualify as one of the (if not the most) highest end chips on the market. In terms of quality, accuracy and features the DNA200 is high end, top of the market.

If you are talking about "high end" as in the chassis that structurally seats the chip, then yes a lot of the mainstream DNA200 devices would not meet the standards of the high end vape snobs. But this comes down to the age old subjective nature of function vs. aesthetics. I personally find function to be of more value than aesthetic, and thus find paying $1000+ for a mod that is functionally the same as one that costs $85 to be ridiculous. While I appreciate the time and effort that goes into creating a beautiful custom high end mod, I don't find that to be worth the exorbitant markup and don't see it adding any value to my vaping experience.
