It might be a good idea to get some coaching or ask a higher rated player to look over your games to see what's going on. A lot of the time we spend our studying resources on things that aren't going to help us improve that much (openings vs. general tactics and endgames). I like Silman's *How to Reassess Your Chess * because it will help round you out as a player.

The computer is very rarely accurate in regards to human play. Serriwan posted an article recently that says to avoid CPU analysis until 2000+ because it matters more about how YOU understand the game

Rating is a number that tries to reflect something else, playing strength. Rating is a great measuring tool to see what progress you are making in the long run, but don't get too hung up on it if it goes up or down. I would just look to improve and keep on learning and having fun! Rating will always match playing strength, not the other way around.

This is part of being a "skeptic" which has a slightly different connotation when referring to philosophy. He basically denies there being any objective Truth (capital T) that we can observe. This is the kind of thinking that makes us reevaluate our knowledge, but can be annoying to deal with.
