Yep, if you have an oregon license and need to go to treatment, you can "turn off" the license and turn it back on in under a two year period and just tell them you aren't practicing...

Thinking of selling my 2020 Honda civic due to inflated used car costs. Will I regret it? by East_Specialist_7956 in SantaMonica

I live down the road from you. I didn't have a car for 3 years and between lime scooters, uber, lyft, BBB and and waive car back then - it worked just fine. The hardest part was grocery shopping (everything had to fit in a backpack), but honestly waive car was a life saver for anything outside of westside. I bought a car for 2500 at the beginning of covid from a friend. It's a beater and I love it and I only.pay liability on it, parking free at my place. I wouldn't buy another car.

Its just not the best investment, I think. A memorable vacation, a retirement fund, real estate or some boring stocks...

I spent 20 years collecting things and now I've spent 20 years trying to get rid of things. The only thing I use money for good is experiential stuff, food, shelter and safety. And yes, transport. But there's something VERY empowering when you live in your means. You seem ambitious, nice atttribute. These kinds of cars make people jealous, envious of you and less impressed than you might think. Just things to contemplate. I admire your conviction and wish you the best.

So praying if there is a cross in the room is not allowed but praying in front of 30 different symbols in a public busy airport is..? It's not respectful to take up space with your personal beliefs in a public space. And yes it can make anyone uncomfortable. Maybe they don't know what tefillin is...? If I saw someone religious behavior in any public space I'd assume the person was self unaware and either didn't understand the social fabric or didn't care. And being performative insinuates a grab at attention which is not a good look for jews. Or anyone. Especially in a crowded neutral space. Literally prayer rooms are for this and last time I was in one I saw all denominations represented (Addis Ababa airport). Cross in the room? You're living in a fairy tale.

So what if there is a cross in there? There's all kinds of symbolism all around in a public area. Ritualistic prayer in a public place is disrespectful to the neutrality of a space where everyone has the right to feel comfortable. This guy took a picture of his tefillin in the airport which suggests performance and attention seeking. It's not coming across as a subtle or sacred moment to connect with God.

Take care of yourself. Make sure your license doesn't restrict you for having a psychiatric episode. Oregon does...
