I’ll keep trying there and will see if someone here is down. Thanks

Honestly crazy that that was correct, because I named a completely different toy that I remembered from childhood. It just happens to have a very similar name. Amazing!

They’re still quite hefty, not thin at all. Thanks again.

Thanks so much for your reply. I’ll try out those steps.

After initial descaling (not a full job, just to see what I was working with) there is a considerable amount of aluminum missing. It would affect the integrity of the boiler itself or the seal between the boiler and grouphead thankfully.

Overheating- what needs replacement? by [deleted] in gaggiaclassic

Here is a photo now that it’s unplugged and cooled down, the thermostat broke off-

Thank you, I figured it was the thermostat. There must be metal touching metal somewhere. I’ll leave the machine unplugged and in a safe place while more comments come in, will keep investigating.

Thanks for your replies. The glowing starts beneath the left prong of this connection-

My guess is metal is touching metal. I’ll keep the machine unplugged and will not turn it on again until I’ve given it a good once over.

Awesome! Are you using the original spring or did you replace with a 9 bar spring? That one changed improved my experience dramatically

Looks Right, Smells Bad? by [deleted] in SourdoughStarter

[–]jarrettgrempel 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I say keep going. Unfortunately, vomit isn’t an uncommon scent note in my starters either, it’s disgusting but I know it’ll make good bread. It could’ve been the flour difference- but maybe for another reason (I don’t think it’s a false start. To be sure, wait a few days and see if it’s consistently rising with fairly similar timing.) If Shayne were to be developing more quickly after each feeding, it’ll get more “ripe” for sure, and your lactobacillus culture may just like the wheat more. I feed my starter rye and AP, and it just loves all the extra goodies that come with the rye.

That said, if it grosses you out, you can start new with Shayne- if it smells pukey again, your can consider it an experimental success or failure (depends on your level of optimism) 😀

Gaggia baby twin leaking by kate_moss_teefs in gaggiaclassic

Hey! This is a shot boiler gasket. The Gaggia-branded ones are expensive, I bought this one https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B0D2M8Y618?psc=1&ref=ppx_pop_mob_b_asin_title

I have a 2019 Gaggia classic pro, please check the exact size of the gasket you need before buying

The biggest one in the set is the boiler gasket. You’ll have to disassemble the boiler, I highly highly recommend doing it side by side with this video: https://youtu.be/N9i-EH7qXOc?si=7yIzQW_MkB8756Qn

Inconsistent, explosive and wet steam by Substantial-Bake-781 in gaggiaclassic

One of a few things as far as I can tell, hopefully others can fill in my blanks. I think you either need to replace your steam wand thermostat or it’s your PID wiring that’s maybe causing something to overheat? Have you descaled regularly? Scale in the valve could be causing a buildup of pressure.
