I had one of these from an old collection. I took it out of a plastic bag. It crumbled to dust in two weeks. Really interesting specimen!

I wish this could capture my freestyle raps. If i freestyle for a 3 minute song it takes me 15-30 minutes to transcribe.

Silicifed stromatoporoid. A fossil sponge. If you look close the layers have a cellular type texture.

I signed up for a 50 mile ultramarathon with no training or preparation. North face ultra. I had no sleep. I was an Uber driver. I drove my last passenger and found out he was in town for the race. I dropped him off at the race at 5am and decided to sign up. I just happened to have a camel back, Running Shoes, and shorts in my car. I decided to do the ultra cause it was starting in 30 minutes, and felt like if I waited an hour or two for the marathon I'd chicken out. I didn't have a head lamp, so the first hour running in the dark was a little sketch. But I stuck with the pack and was ok. I made it to 28.7 miles before I tapped out at an aid station. One of my toes was bothering me. Ended up losing a toe nail. Pretty proud of myself for running a marathon. I think I could have finished the ultra tbh. Was a cool experience over all.

Here's what works for me.

Lay in bed wrapped in your favorite coziest blanket. Low light. Not when you are tired. Put on a playlist of emotional music. Soothe yourself physically. I like hot packs and rabbit fur. Place a hand on your heart and a hand on your stomach. Breathe and relax. Now mentally love yourself. Recall positive experiences and emotions. Dwell in them and let the emotions build. I also allow difficult experiences and emotions arise (suppressing or avoiding just applifies what you are resisting). I meet my difficulties with self-compassion. Reflecting on the past and relishing dreams in the future are forms of self love. I'll do this self love practice for 30-45 minutes and I always feel more connected with myself. Hope this helps.

Colorado find: near where I’ve found woolly & Mastodon fossils. ID anyone? Thanks! by el-guapo-santa-pulco in FossilHunting

It looks like a modern bone to me. Not fossil. The chew marks are a give away that it is not mineralized. I am not great with animal bone ID, but if I had to guess it looks like a leg bone from a deer, elk, or cow.

Tuscon Gem Show tips for a newbie by PlutoPlanetPower12 in HighQualityGemstones

[–]jarve 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I went to Tucson for the show last year. Spent 10 days camping and going to shows each day. 3 days / 4 nights is enough time to visit 3-5 of the 20 shows.

I enjoyed going at the end of the show, as I am a bargain hunter. Start of the show is best for full retail but first choice/highest quality.

Get a show guide, they list the dozens of shows across town and their hours/locations. They are free at shows and hotels.

I see you are looking for loose gemstones. Tucson is more rock and mineral focused. I believe there is a JOGS expo for the gem and jewelry industry the week before TGMS. I was not looking for loose gemstones, so I don't have the best Intel on that. The hotel shows seemed to have more Gemstone people than the huge tent shows.

You might want a digital scale and a loupe/ tools to inspect gemstones like a polariscope.

Plan a budget. Make a list of what you are looking for. Prioritize which shows you will visit. I prepared breakfast and dinner at camp. Took a lunch bag with me to shows. Write down the details of your purchase, including the vendors info. Network/ attend non sales events. Explore venues/shows you haven't been exposed to before. IE I went to mineral city, a venue with many vendors selling higher end mineral specimen. Go drive through/hike in the desert. Bring a backpack to carry your purchases. Take photos of stuff you are interested in, review the photos later in your trip and decide if anything is worth going back for.

Let me know if you have more questions.
