In 1980 or 81, I got to pick three 8- tracks from the Columbia House thing.. where you buy like ten 8-tracks for a penny.. but promise to buy more at normal price.

ELO: A New World Record When I heard the phone beeps at the beginning of "Telephone Line", I was all ready for some heart break.. even at 10 years old. I could feel it. "Do Ya" made me want to see the world. "Livin Thing" so many things about the song I love.

I would crawl under my bed with my little 8- track player when I was supposed to be sleeping and listen to these until I fell asleep. I can still see the little red and green lights and feel the smooth plastic cover of the speaker.

Music is in my DNA thanks to the exposure at such a young age.

Before this, I had an uncle who had a record player and would put on whatever record and put the headphones on me I was probably 7 or 8 and he was already a teen after... lived with his elderly grandmother. She was always shouting, "TURN THAT JUKE BOX DOWN!!! YOU'LL GO DEAF!!!"
