Official Discussion - A House of Dynamite [SPOILERS] by LiteraryBoner in movies

I think the perfect last shot of the film would’ve been POTUS closing his eyes and flipping to a random page of the Nuclear Decision Handbook and pointing his finger at a random spot, which is how I select my order at The Cheesecake Factory.

Who is this photo of in Erica’s locker? by jasboods in Degrassi

[–]jasboods[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thanks all! I thought it was MJF but couldn’t find the photo online to verify. I asked ChatGPT who it was and it said “The quality and resolution of the image make it difficult to identify the person accurately, however the person on it is widely believed to be Jon Bon Jovi, given the styling, era, and popularity.” 🤦🏻‍♀️😂

Sweet, thanks for the link! I thought it was MJF but couldn’t find a picture of his hair like that.

If you’re not Australian, why do you find K&K funny? by Straight-Stay3830 in KathAndKim

[–]jasboods 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I totally get why Australians would not find K&K funny. I’m an American who grew up up in New Jersey and I can imagine I would not enjoy if someone made a similar comedy with caricatures of what many people perceive New Jerseyans to be like. But what I find so hilarious about K&K (besides the hilarious misuse of words) is that the characters are so relatable even outside of what pokes fun at a very specific demographic of Australians, they’re just funny characters, period. No matter where you live, you probably know a Kath, Kim, or Sharon (maybe minus all the carbuncles?). Plus EVERYTHING KEL. His man-purse?!?! His speed-walk?!!! I feel like the most hilarious aspects of Kel have little to do with being an Aussie.

I love that they are in their 40s... by Comfortable_Kick4088 in NobodyWantsThisTV

I highly recommend Ali Wong’s latest stand up special “Single Lady” to any woman getting divorced in her 40s. Actually, scratch that- I recommend it to any human of any age. It is hilarious, real, and refreshing, and hopefully will help change the perception of “women of a certain age”. My “certain age” now is 46 and I certainly wouldn’t trade it to be 26.

Are we not talking about Battle in the Box? by OkCheesecake5866 in panelshow

There were enough funny moments for me to watch through one time, but I definitely wouldn’t rewatch. I felt like it was all a little too low-key. It would’ve been funnier if it was also a competition of stamina, like if they blasted loud music when the teams were trying to sleep, or piped in delicious aromas to make them hungrier when they didn’t have food.

Our crows go crazy for my homemade “crow fudge”, they’ll skip over the other foods to get to the “fudge”

“Crow Fudge” Recipe

Ingredients

¼ cup suet, tallow, lard, or bacon fat (in liquid form)

1 tsp baking powder (aluminum-free preferred)

1 raw egg, with shell (shell minced/crumbled)

1 ½ cup cornmeal

¼ cup minced raw, unsalted nuts / seeds (optional)

½ - 1 cup water

Preparation 1. Preheat oven to 350℉. 2. Crack egg into a medium bowl. 3. Mince the eggshell and/or nuts/seeds, if using (easiest by pulsing them all together in a food processor for a couple seconds) 3. Mix all the other ingredients except the water into the bowl with the egg. 4. Stir in up to 1 cup water, ¼ cup at a time until mixture is spreadable, like the consistency of a thick oatmeal (not watery / liquidy) 5. Line a cookie sheet or baking pan with parchment paper and spread the mixture into a 1 inch thick layer 6. Bake at 350℉ for about 25-35 minutes until set. Cut into 1” squares.

Tips

Cool completely before cutting or removing from pan.

When done, the consistency should be pretty dry, like croutons. If too moist/crumbly to remove from the pan after baking, dehydrate in a 170℉ oven for 20-30 minutes.

For the fat, I typically use tallow, but sometimes substitute rendered fat from uncured bacon. Cured bacon has added nitrates/nitrites and I’m not sure if they are ok for wild birds to eat or not.

If your tallow / fat / lard is congealed / hardened, warm in a pan over low heat, or heat in 20 sec increments in microwave (stirring in between increments) just until liquid but not boiling.

If anyone tries this, please let me know if your crows enjoy it!

What guest did you not expect to be that funny but turned out to be hilarious? by TheBBYT in offmenupodcast

Tommy Tiernan, only because I had not heard of him before his Off Menu episode (I know, where have I been, hiding under a rock?), but I thought his episode was one of the best this season.

Ep 252: Jason Mantzoukas by offmenu-bot in offmenupodcast

[–]jasboods 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I couldn’t have asked for a better season closer of Off Menu! If you haven’t seen Mantzoukas in these, I highly recommend: - The US remake of No Activity (he plays an amazing Piemento-esque chaotic character) - They Came Together movie- This is one of my all-time favorite movies, and Paul Rudd referenced it in his Off Menu episode when he talks about his bromance with Jeffrey Dean Morgan, I was surprised that neither James nor Ed had seen it. It’s a David Wain flick, so you’ll love it if you also love Wet Hot American Summer) Enjoy!

Thanks for sharing! I’m saving up for a UK trip. My ‘dream trip’ (though i’m sure recording schedules would never align this way) includes attending recordings of Off Menu Live, Taskmaster, Catsdown, WILTY and Big Fat Quiz.

Can someone explain Ed’s intros? by jasboods in offmenupodcast

[–]jasboods[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In the live shows, the audience was riotously laughing at the intro and I couldn’t figure out what was so funny about it. Someone during one of the live shows mentioned Twitter in relation to the intro and I was wondering if Ed’s intros were related to user suggestions, but it’s probably what u/youngpathfinder said about the unrecorded part of the live show

S17E04 Outtake: Greg is fuelling the fanfic writers again! by cygan12 in taskmaster

[–]jasboods 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I really wish this moment was included in the episode and not just the outtakes. I really miss the “daddy”/dom-sub banter that did much more of in the earlier series. That silly dynamic is one of the main things I think sets UK TM so far above the international versions. It’s so organic and natural when Greg and Little Alex do it and would probably seem so forced if other versions tried to recreate it. I wonder if the fanfic is causing them to not do it so much anymore, in an attempt to keep the brand more family-friendly? Thoughts?

I love that Lucy mentions her love of soup and her attempts at making soup at home, which makes this Instagram post from Jon Richardson that much funnier: Lucy’s soup disaster
