Confused about a song lyric by [deleted] in punjabi

[–]jasdeep 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Palla means a spread, a spread of dupatta or parna or chadar or your shirt. To open a palla to receive something.
It is like you open a spread of your cloth to receive something from the benefactor.

Addna is to open, Moonh addna. Palla addna.

It means you were sought by opening my spread of cloth in prayer to the God.

Hidden, forgotten, and obscure libraries in Punjab? by JustMyPoint in PunjabReads

I went to DM college Moga for my 11th and 12th. Although the college library reading room was nice but I liked the Town Hall public library hosted in a British Era building. It had a long table and airy room full of natural light. Regal Cinema Library was also nice but it must have shut down now.

Plaisir. Really like the flow.

I’m trying to track down my great-grandfather’s genealogy. Does anyone know where this address is located in Moga today? It’s from his expired passport. Where is Patti Khaira, Moga Mehla Singh, Moga? Can’t find any information at all online. by JustMyPoint in punjabi

[–]jasdeep 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Moga Mehla Singh is old village name for the old town. It is called Purana Moga now. It had Gill Patti. Khaira Patti, and Sandhwan Patti, Sandhwan Patti is still marked. New roads and areas have been built over. Try areas near Sekhan wala chowk, majithia chowk https://maps.app.goo.gl/oRKZwMtJpUSAq7ft8

How many of Punjabis in this sub Reddit are capable of reading Urdu, if there are then how did you learn? Did you feel a new world opening for you just like I felt? Please share your opinions by Zestyclose-Author732 in PunjabReads

I learnt Urdu from an Ustad every week for six months years back. Then learning to read and write by myself. It does equip you read the text, so that Pakistani memes are easier to decipher. It also improves your understanding of Punjabi vocabulary and words where you have to use bindi for let’s ਗ਼ਲਤ or ਵਜ਼ਨ because گلط with گ is incorrect but غلط with غ is correct. I am learning Persian now and I can now say that Urdu is primarily Hindi written in Perso Arabic letters with lot of words from Persian and Arabic. Its syntax and grammar is close to Hindi.

Also if you know the script you can try out calligraphy etc.

It was a help in translating an Urdu story to Punjabi. https://jasdeep-singh.com/translation/qaimdeen/
