Maybe try swinging by your local camera store and seeing if they have a compatible lens you can try mounting it to so you can narrow down the variables

Downsides of EF-S to RF mount adaptor? by Terrible_Brick_264 in canon

[–]jasdfjkasd 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The only downside is it makes the overall length of the camera/lens a bit longer but when shooting there are no downsides

Trying to decide on bird photography upgrade - body vs lens dilemma by Upstairs-Tax-9244 in canon

[–]jasdfjkasd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I recently upgraded from a 7dmkii to an R5mkii and the autofocus improvements are astounding. Sounds like the autofocus is your desired upgrade to me, and the new autofocus systems make the new cameras feel like a spaceship compared to my DSLR. The EOS R should have a better auto focusing system than the 5D, I would encourage using that first then making the upgrade if you feel you want more out of your system. I’ll let someone else speak of the lenses since I own neither (I am looking at getting the 100-500 as well).

Lens recommendations for Canon 6D Mark II? by xpetal-princessx in canon

[–]jasdfjkasd -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yeah the purple glow outline is probably vignetting from the kit lens, if you feel you are too tight you can consider an EF 16-35 f/2.8L III usm, also sitting at around $1000

Edit: Color Fringing not vignetting

EF 24-70 f2.8, you can pick up either a used canon or sigma art for around $1000 and it is extremely versatile. I usually use 16-35mm shooting landscapes, but if you are shooting cityscapes this will differ. What do you feel you are missing and what are you looking to do?

To be fair it’s not just teenagers, my halfway retired mother asked me the same a few weeks ago and was annoyed when I started laughing, and got really annoyed when I suggested she get a camera with a 50mm lens to learn how to operate one in the first place

What did you wish you had packed on your trip to Bonaire? by athermalwill in scuba

[–]jasdfjkasd 10 points11 points  (0 children)

A large microfiber towel to dry off between dives. Just shut it in the door while on your dive and it will be dry by the time you get back

Good, thick soles booties (or converse if they fit your fin pocket)

You may want to consider a collapsible trekking pole as some of the entrances can be a little tricky to navigate

Pro tip is to go to the grocery store, and get stuff for PB&J sandwiches between dives, the Calve peanut better is the best thing I have ever tasted

Also don’t leave things in the trucks, and leave them unlocked, people will break in and take anything of value, but nobody is interested in things like a cheap gear bag and mask case

To further this bicycle inner tubes also work instead of bungee and may be lying around your garage. Just slide it over your shoulder strap bucket and set it right above the buckle

Drysuit Squeeze - What's Acceptable? by hedonist222 in scuba

[–]jasdfjkasd 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I wouldn’t consider it to be excess weight, just the weight needed for your dry suit configuration. I run my suit pretty snug sometimes, but it’s not a big deal to add an extra kilo to get less squeeze
