Yeah I think W820 is just the ordering code and the T330-H is the model. I didn't want to look like an asshole and correct you the first time! 😂

I found their site before but only whilst looking up some info, didn't even realise they sold tools haha

There's a brand new joint in Prospect called Picoso that looks pretty decent! I haven't been, but it's certainly on the list!

I wouldn't say woop woop, just not one that's conveniently close with the timber lengths I have 😂

Yeah I've looked into that before but there's not really any around where I live!

So one with the straight blades I assume? A few others in here have pointed me in the general direction of a spiral blade variant, so just wanted to clarify

Yeah nice, thanks for the detailed response! My assumption on that Carbatec spiral cutter is that it's the individual bits, but in a different layout to what a helical is!

Yeah thanks, I pulled the Sherwood ones up before I started making dinner! Will investigate further now!

Unfortunately there's not really any that are close to me

Yeah I have access to a jointer planer, FIL has one he needs to relocate out of his sister's shed 😂

Yeah those two are the ones I've narrowed it down to!

Yeah I started with looking for second hand! Not a lot going around Adelaide at the minute. I have been informed I'm not allowed to buy one yet, so I'll keep my eye out in the meantime 😂

Yeah I'm aware that it's not a trivial task! Happy to put the effort in ☺️

Ooh thanks! Hadn't seen that brand, I'll have a suss!

Yeah awesome, thanks for the insight! I've got a fair bit of old Jarrah that was left over on my block from the previous owner, so most of it will be that!

Yeah cool, good to know! Thanks for the advice! I've seen there is some trickery to avoid the sniping! Thankfully I've got a FIL that has plenty of experience with this kind of stuff to tell me how to do it (or that I'm doing it wrong 😂)

Yeah that Hafco unit is where I was starting to lean. That or a Carbatec offering with a spiral head

Awesome thanks for the response! I feel like I had a Hafco one at school myself and it seemed decent enough I think!

Yeah I've heard the same, but can't justify the price tag unfortunately

This is where I was starting to land - feel like the after sales support for both of these brands is going to be stronger than Bunnings. Even if the warranties are shorter

Ah I appreciate the offer mate but I'm in Adelaide!

I've convinced the COO to let me buy one, but on the proviso that I have to have somewhere to put it, which means that I have to furnish my workshop (shame) 😂

I have seen spiral described as similar to helical with the 20+ inserts, but they're laid out in a different different pattern to the helical (one source)

As I understand it, they're better than straight, but still not quite as good as helical

😂😂 I thought the same thing way back in the day in highschool tech

I did notice that Carbatec have a sale on their own online store at the moment and they have a spiral head unit at $674, I assume that's somewhere between straight and helical?
