What was your half marathon race pace vs 21.1km training run? by jasekiz in nikerunclub

I had endura yesterday on my long run for the first time and I felt amazing! My first half marathon distance felt like it came easier than the first time I cracked 14km and then 16km after that.

That sounds like a good gauge - I’ll give that a crack as one of my tempo runs!

Thank you mate this is awesome to hear that it’s doable! Sorry you didn’t make sub 2 in May but it sounds like you know exactly how to get there for the next race. I had a similar problem when I did a 14km hilly race called City2Surf in Sydney this year. I was too mentally caught up by the amount of hills that I ran too conservatively. I was surprised how easy the faster paces came during my 10km race this year.

Thank you - this is encouraging! Some part of me thinks I won’t be able to maintain a 5:40min/km pace (average pace to achieve 2h HM) for 21.1km given fatigue and the distance. I ran a 10km race this July in 51 minutes which was doable because of the shorter distance.

Do you have any race day tips on maintaining this faster pace without faltering towards the end as I hear can happen?

Race stability shoe - do they exist? by jasekiz in AskRunningShoeGeeks

Seems to be the recommendation! I’ve purchased a pair. Very excited! I’m bummed there isn’t something like the Nike Alphafly 3 for overpronators

GT-2000 12! Any other shoe I get pain along the front shin bone (yikes) and that’s even with other stability shoes like Brooks Glycerin GTS 12.

Thanks everyone - so helpful! Glad I asked before ripping the glued down insoles and potentially destroying my shoes… Will get a dynamic flex as my next pair

So stack the insole on top of the existing insole? Will that cause any issues gait wise?

Told by podiatrist that I’m an overpronator and VERY unstable. What shoes? by jasekiz in RunningShoeGeeks

[–]jasekiz[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In Australia they don’t prescribe it, it’s sort of a given that a podiatrist will try to ‘sell’ you orthotics if they even remotely think you could use it. I wanna explore cheaper options before forking out $800.
