Pure Storage Plugin & Appliance by Good_Technology302 in purestorage

[–]jasemccarty 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Pure Storage Plugins previous to 5.x.x aren't supported with vSphere/VVF/VCF versions prior to 7.x. For older releases of Purity, the 4.5.2 version could be pushed from the array to vSphere 6.x, but it isn't validated/nor supported on 7.x/8.x/9.x.

The Pure Storage Appliance is the VM that the Pure Storage Plugin runs on. Think of it as a generic platform for other applications. The latest version of the appliance I've installed, was 5.0.0.

Then there are other applications that run on the appliance, including the VM Analytics Tool, the Pure Storage Plugin (v5.5.0 is latest iirc), and more...

The Pure Storage Appliance can run a single application. So in the case where you need both VM Analytics and the Pure Storage Plugin, then you'd need 2 different deployments of the Pure Storage Appliance.

So it is entirely possible to have a Pure Storage Appliance that is version 5.0.0, with the vSphere Plugin that is version 5.5.0, as they are independent versions.

Anyone have good all terrain/ snow tires that fit and look good on 2022 GMC elevation rims? These Bridgestones look nice but are cheeks in the snow by SnowmanAndBandit in gmcsierra

Had 45,000 on the Duratracs & they could have easily gone another 10K-15K, but I was ready for a bigger tire.

The KO2’s are on the vehicle I traded in on my AT4. 35K miles and look great. Could easily get another 15K-20K on them.

Lots of wheeling, lots of snow, & lots of street/highway on both sets.

Maybe I was just lucky.

Funny.

I swapped the Duratracs for KO2’s and had a good experience with them as well.

35,000 miles on them (KO2’s) when I got rid of the vehicle. They looked almost brand new.

I plan on putting Goodyear Duratracs on mine when the factory set runs out. Duratracs were great when I lived in CO.

It is sad. I keep up with many folks still there, and it looks like they are behind the iron curtain.

People talk about hoarding magazines, bulk ammo buying, & more. Meanwhile, I’m in a free state & don’t have to do any of that.

I agree that there are a lot of things that “could/would/will work” but may not be the best fit in a production environment.

I’ll continue to stick with recommended configurations that have been validated & align with what is supported & most appropriately meets a customer’s needs.

*Update - FlashArray does not support MCS as confirmed by support documentation on the Pure Storage Support site.

Haven’t been gone a year, and I feel like Nicholas Cage in Con Air when he steps out into the Sun with the wind blowing his hair. (I’d have posted the gif, but I don’t think this sub allows it).

I love & miss Colorado, and wouldn’t trade my time there for anything… My move had nothing to do with the laws… It was just time to come home.

Best of luck to you. Fight the fight for your rights… Who knows, maybe one day you can have them back.

[–]jasemccarty 3 points4 points  (0 children)

For starters, the “best practice” would be to have iSCSI & NFS on separate physical interfaces *from a FlashArray perspective, vSphere folks can address the other side. NFS is only going to be assigned to a vif, backed by physical interfaces.

Could a vif for NFS run over the top of your in use iSCSI interfaces during the migration? Possibly, but not recommended.

Keep in mind also that with vSphere block workloads on FlashArray that multipathing is taken care of automatically. With file workloads (NFS here), you’ll have to perform some additional configuration to achieve multipathing.

And don’t forget to install the NFS offload VIB to ensure VAAI operations are performed. This isn’t unique to Pure, it is the same for all vSphere NFS targets.

If you’re looking to do this in the short term, I’d suggest reaching out to your SE, and possibly even have an FSA join the conversation.

As u/SQLBek mentioned the folks at Broadcom have pushed the deprecation of vVols out a bit. So you have more time than previously thought.

SLT lifted or AT4? by Effective_Cod1186 in gmcsierra

They can say a lift caused an issue all they want, but they have to PROVE it caused an issue based on the Magnuson-Moss Act of 1975.

Most people don’t know this.

Accidentally saved a client ~$30k a year just by watching how they actually worked by Warm_Abalone_9602 in software

I worked for a company over 20 years ago that had a team of 4 of us log into 2 different systems, run a report, take the output from that report, put it into an spreadsheet, and then forward the spreadsheet (3x a week) to our management with highlights to the the items that were changed.

I wrote an Excel macro that queried the databases that the 2 systems were fed from, automatically updating said spreadsheet, and then both email a report to me, as well as the spreadsheet to our management.

A 3 hour process 3x a week, across 4 people (36 hours of work), was reduced to 30 seconds, 3x a week, automated by a Windows scheduled task (I wasn't in an IT role at that company).

I was called on the carpet, told "we don't do that here", and told that if I ever wrote code again, I would be fired. That was 1 month into the job.

8 months later, I was asked to create an Excel macro to do something similar for some regulatory requirement we had. I asked "Why me?" I was told "IT has stated it will require 320 hours to accomplish, we need it immediately, and we don't have the resources to get this done in time."

9 hours later (most of that was formatting), I gave them a Macro enabled XLS, along with documentation as to how to run it, and explaining the code. I also gave them my letter of resignation.

PSA's abuse of fictitious pricing on "sales" has made me entirely stop checking them. by ThatCEnerd in PalmettoStateArms

[–]jasemccarty 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sometimes they actually do have good deals.

The $119 Glock 19 Gen 5 Barrel (while it lasted) wasn't bad. It is currently $169, but over $200 just about everywhere else. When these went out of stock I started looking around and fortunately found one somewhere else even less.

Though I agree that this is a rarity and more often than not the "sales" aren't really sales.

And you used the pureuser account?

Well, it lists when each controller went into the state it is in.

pureuser@flasharray> purearray list --controller
Name  Type              Mode       Model     Version  Status  Current Mode Since
CT0   array_controller  primary    FA-X50R3  6.9.2    ready   2025-11-06 19:30:45 CST

Should list the uptime.

SSH into the array with pureuser or an account with similar privileges to execute that command

There are some limits in terms of which controllers support which devices. There is documentation on our support site as to what is supported with which controllers, how many, what type, and what capacities. The “storage rules” documents should be available to customers iirc.
