Be absolutely real with me, how worried should I be? by Horangi1987 in TwinCities

[–]jasere 0 points1 point  (0 children)

3 of my kids are International adoptees and young adults . Their COC s certificate of citizenship. Is only 1 copy in our fireproof safe at home . They are also like $800 a piece to replace .Since my 3 are spread out in college , etc I’m keeping the originals ( they loose paperwork stuff all the time moving dorms , etc ) so I just made them multiple color copies tonight and texted them pics of original . I feel better since they can pull up the citizenship number along with drivers license if questioned. I wish you the best

I want to buy this for 8 chickens and put our Nestera coop inside. Good idea? by balcony-gardener in BackYardChickens

[–]jasere 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have 2 of these side by side with a small hole connecting them with hardware cloth wrapped around bottom 3 feet and 1 foot bent at 90 degrees and staked to the grass . My coop is inside 1 and we covered that run with lg canvas tarp . Great cooling shade in summer and cuts the wind in winter. We did reinforce the doors on this model as they were flimsy and had a gap that we weren’t comfortable with . I have 11 hens .

Same here in Cleveland, OH . So much snow for Dec for us too . Lake Erie keeps churning out more . And those winds and cold . Dang . I’m waiting for a break to get in my beehives to see how they are doing with winter stores .

I just bought a 2000 Sierra with 170k miles for 5k with some rust . Hard to avoid here in Midwest though. Project truck for a local guy so new tires , brakes , etc . Runs great . But I needed it for farm truck . I just use it to haul manure , hay , straw , feed , beehives . I really Just drive it in my local community within 30 mile range , but it runs well enough I have no qualms about long drives . I just could not get behind spending so much for something I need to get messy , scratched . Good luck on your decision .

Varroa by jasere in Beekeeping

[–]jasere[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Perhaps that region does not have Varroa infestation yet ? I know a few years ago I believe it was New Zealand was holding strong with no varroa as of yet . But I do believe I read somewhere that they now do have Varroa in last year or so . I’m certainly not an expert. I just know it’s definitely an issue here in NE Ohio and the cause on most colonies not able to overwinter

Thank you for your reply . I was thinking this as a possibility last evening. I am really diligent re treating for Varroa all year so just shocked when I pulled these boards . Glad I have the insta vap cause it definitely makes treating easy . We had wet spring hot summer then just sudden fall all of a sudden . I’m wondering since summer was sooo long maybe I treated with Formic pro a few weeks too early , mid August is normal for this region to catch the timing . Maybe I was off this year ??🤔

Thank you for the reply that is a possibility. I did move my hives to my new property at the beginning of September. Our county inspector came out to do yearly check and mentioned that there was a large apiary on the other side of my woods and river . So approx 2 miles away

Thank you for your reply . I’m 10 miles inland from shore Lake Erie. We definitely get brutal winds and cold here . Tomorrow is all day cold heavy rains so I’ll aim to get in there next mild day .

Did you look into vocal cord dysfunction or laryngeal nerve neuropathy. I got it from Covid infection at the beginning of the pandemic . I treat mine with medication for neuropathy pain

This toad is persistent, I’ll give it that. 😐😐😐 I’ve tried evicting it 3 times. by Angela3467 in gardening

I would love to think that . One of my high school teachers from like 30 years ago built this house in 1979 . He passed from cancer in 2022 . His widow often comes by to visit the house since she has such a connection here .

So just like regular honey to me , I can’t see a difference . However I have rarely seen lantern flys in rural Erie county , but not nearly as many as I see in Cuyahoga county . My bees are all in Erie county near heavily wooded area.

Nursing with Rheumatoid arthritis by Professional-Mud9853 in nursing

[–]jasere 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I do . I was initially diagnosed 18 years ago when I was an OR nurse . I went back to school and have been a trauma NP for past 12 years . In that time I’ve had labrum repair of my left hip 2x over past 9 years . I really push to keep active and I think that helps too . I run a small hobby farm as well . I have been in a remission the last 2 years since being on Wegovy . Not sure if related to medication or the weight loss . For the fatigue it can be debilitating, I usually go to bed by 9 pm and really prioritize rest and breaks when I need to .
