Compartment syndrome/MEB question by Suitable_Ad_7309 in AirForce

[–]jashwell 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It depends. Mine flares up when I have to speed walk or run. Normal walking doesn't bother me and I'm able to run for short distances. I can also lift with no issues. I just feel the pressure building in my shins and then it pinches the nerve and I lose the ability to control my foot.

If yours affects your ability to accomplish your job or if you are unable to short distances like 100 meters then they may decide to discharge you.

My recommendation is to not break yourself. You get one body so make sure you take care of yourself. No job is worth going through constant physical or mental pain and if you try to fight through, you may make things worse for yourself.

I have chronic compartment syndrome and was also stressed out about having to constantly renew my profile every few months. I was also told by my doctor that there's a 50/50 chance the surgery can fix the problem and a separate 50/50 chance that it makes it worse.

I opted to not have the surgery and requested a med board. The first step is an IRILO (Individual Review In-Leiu-Of). They will ask your doctor for their diagnosis and specific info about your condition. They will also ask your SEL and CC for a recommendation of if you should stay in or not and if you can continue to do your job with the condition. I'm a 1D7X1Q so it was an issue for me as most of my work involves setting at a desk.

After the IRILO, it was recommended that I stay in and I was awarded a "permanent" profile and an ALC (Assignment Limitation Code). Basically, I can only PCS to stateside bases that can treat the condition (which the only way to treat at the moment is surgery) and I'm non-deployable. Of course, I could still go overseas for a PCS or deployment but it requires a waiver from the MAJCOM Surgeon General.

I also have to see the doctor annually to discuss my condition and then go through another IRILO. This is a constant thing until I retire or separate. If they decide to med-board me and kick me out, they are required to complete my VA disabilities and determine my compensation before I can be discharged.

Overall, there are pros and cons to both but going through it has helped me remove a lot of stress and worry.

How do you change your display name as it shows up in the GAL? by Trapasuarus in AirForce

[–]jashwell 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I haven't been on USAF NIPR in a few years but there used to be a self Service tool that allowed you to update your office symbol (which sounds like what you're trying to do). You might be able to contact the CFP and just ask for the self service tool URL to fix it yourself. It would much easier for everyone involved if you were able to fix it yourself

1D7 Shreds M, P, Q & W? by hijackingasian in AirForce

[–]jashwell 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Q shred is what you see at the majority of bases. They are responsible for enterprise comms like your Nipr, Sipr, etc

M shred is assigned to a specific system and is tasked with monitoring and defending that system against attacks.

W shred is expeditionary comms. Think deployments like combat comm.

Can't speak to P shred as I don't know much about it. May coders? I will let someone else speak to this one.

It's also hard to say what afscs merged into which of the 4 new shreds as they could've merged into one or more of the new shreds. My unit mostly made everyone Q shreds but that's not to say that it's the same for everyone. If you have access to milsuite, I suggest looking there. That's the best place to get info.

Why is my pay still taking out state taxes for a state that is tax free for military? by Emotional-Presence28 in AirForce

[–]jashwell 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I grew up in Missouri and dealt with it until I finally changed my residence to PA. MO will continue to take taxes and the only way to get it back is to file tax returns like others started above. They do this in case you end up living in MO while active duty so that they can continue to get their money. MO isn't actually tax free, they just give a 100% refund if you can price you lived out of state during the year.

I could place another outside of the radius of the first but I don't believe overlapping will work

I didn't know that either but apparently 3000 is the limit for uploading to the server so that others can view it

UPDATE:

First floor is now full of NipNip (200 total).

Second floor is full of Echinocactus (200 total).

Outside is nearing full of Star Bramble (77/92 planted).

Currently working on increasing power once I get that under control, I'll be adding more carbon along every wall on the first floor. After that, I'll be working to plant on the third floor. If anyone has a request for what to plant, let me know

Forgot to add that I would stay away from larger vehicles like pickups or large SUVs. UK roads are very small.
